New Manager.

Postby gillsfan1066 » Thu Apr 13, 2017 2:25 pm

If and I hope and pray we stay in Division One , I guess were going to bring in a new manager and I think Gillingham should have a look at Alan Devonshire , he isn't that 40 year old wizz kid that every team wants , but I somehow think he could do a good solid job for a couple of years, steady the ship and get us back on course, because we have hit the rocks with the last few managers we have hired.

I really don't know what Scally's plans are. Technically, stats-wise, we've worsened under Pennock with the same players but keeping us up may be seen as success. However on his arrival the rhetoric was that we were going to push for the play-offs so it shouldn't be considered a success and 3 wins in 17 as it currently stands, is the joint worst win record over the last 17 games in the division.

I think regardless of whether Gillingham Stay In League One, Or, Are Relegated Into League Two, The Club will need to start planning for next season without Adrian Pennock At The Helm, There Is No Doubt In My Mind That Adrian Pennock Genuinely wants to do well at Gillingham Football Club, but I think there are Manager's Available who we should be speaking to, and there are Manager's Available who would love to be appointed as Gillingham Manager.

Paul Scally has just announced huge ambitions with The New Stadium, we need to start to match those ambitions off the pitch with ambitions on the pitch, that means bringing in A Manager who has The CV to show that Gillingham mean business, Kenny Jackett, Steve Cotterill and Chris Powell are all available, all three manager's have achieved promotion into The Championship, and we should have ago and see if we can bring one of those three manager's in, the only sticking point is that I don't see these three coming to Gillingham if we were relegated into League Two, and if we were to stay up, then the playing budget needs to be there for any of these manager's to bring in the players they would want to bring into Gillingham Football Club.

I am with FOM,whatever division we are in next season we should make a change.Edinburgh was sacked because fans and Scally felt the Team was underachieving, and the top half was mentioned in the press conference. When Edinburgh left we were 8 points clear of relegation,we now sit deep in a relegation battle. Our football style is worse,we rely on set pieces to score goals,Pennock`s win ratio is very poor too.We have many players out of contract in the Summer,it is a perfect chance for a new man to bring in new players. That would excite fans, and actually up season ticket sales.

It all sounds very good, but, where is the money coming from, we are selling two year season tickets and bonds, none of this suggests a club that's rolling in money. The managers mentioned would come at a price, they would also expect a budget sufficient to meet the building of a good team, quite frankly our attendances are about 10,000 short of being successful.

I think the problem with guys like this is they tend to buy there way out of trouble, and I am pretty sure we don't have the money to bring in Championship Division players which is what we need to seriously contend for promotion from Division One. You can get out of the 2nd Division on the cheap, going into the Championship from Division One is a different story, the guy we all considered to be our best player at the end of last season still has his Gillingham Shirt on and we didn't get one offer for him, think that sums up our chances of promotion next season unless a lot of money is spent renewing the playing squad at GFC.
I would like to find that young manager the guy in his 40's who maybe took a team in the 2nd Division or the Scottish First Division to a play off place even if he didn't make it to the next level. I think Scally can be criticised and rightly so over his choice of managers, apart from Allen you have to go all the way back to 2,000 and Peter Taylor to find a manager with a winning record, so it's time he sort advice from the experts e.g US on this thread, lol.

Same old tired and cracked record from me I' m afraid. Until we have an owner who has something other than personal enrichment at heart nothing will change. I' m expecting nothing from us and that's exactly what I get. At least I no longer have any false expectations.

There are two possible income streams where the club could get money to bring in The Manager's we have previously mentioned.

1. Gillingham Sell Bradley Dack - Dack's Contract expires in A Year's Time and we may well look to cash in on Dack and hope that someone is willing to pay a decent amount of money for Bradley Dack and we use that money to bring in A New Manager.

2. Southampton Sell Paulo Gazzaniga - Gillingham have A Sell On Clause and Paulo's Time at Southampton may well be up as Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy are ahead of him in the pecking order, and Southampton have got Mouez Hassen, who they signed on loan From Nice In January, so that deal could turn into a permanent move in the summer.

There is a third way to improve our income streams, and that is to have very successful cup runs in The League Cup and FA Cup Next Season, We must have made some money on The Tottenham Game, not millions of pounds of course, but enough to make a difference to the clubs finances.

Great idea, perhaps we can win the lottery, or maybe sell all our marbles and make enough money to but Georgie Best and Stanley Mathews. NO ONE WANTS DACK, he is a good 1st division player and every team in the running for promotion has got a Bradley Dack, and obviously no one thinks he can cut it in the Prem of Championship or they would have been knocking down the front door to get him.
If Southampton are going to sell Gazzaniga it looks as if Rayo Vallecano are going to be the team to take him, a Spanish Second Division side that might give us half a mill for him ,not the $1.4 the books say he is worth, and as far as a cup run goes , HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, lets see, we got beat by Dover one year, and a team from somewhere called Brackley this year ,so yes Sir-re Bob, I would bet on a Cup Run from the Gills, how much would I bet, oh maybe 50 pence or possibly as much as a pound, just for shits and grins.
Gillingham need to find a manager and a GENERAL MANAGER who knows the game of football, Scally needs to put X amount of cash on the table over a period of say 3 years so we can build a team, and before Scally talks about a new stadium I suggest he spend fifty quid and put a FUCKING roof on the Gillingham end,it's an embarrassment to have away fans turn up and have to sit on orange boxes out in the open and watch the game, were the laughing stock of the division sitting two spots off of relegation and talking about building a new stadium for when we get in the Championship.
Just thinking out loud.
