The most expensive team in League Two

Postby Elgrande » Thu Oct 18, 2012 11:24 pm

According to the in depth BBC poll
Gillingham is the most expensive club to watch League Two football.

The cheapest ticket at the Priestfield Stadium is £21. Adding in a pie, programme and tea, the cost of a day out rises to £28.

The poll is floored! It does state that the cheapest ticket is £21, they obviously don't take in to account the many of us who buy our tickets online! I have NEVER paid more than £18 for a seat at The Rainham End! Will say though, if they think we are the most expensive, is that why we have a quality squad and are top of the league? However, Plymouth and Port Vale who are a lot further down the list with their ticket prices, are in, or have been in administration because they can't pay the bills!!

Mark, the research isn't flawed, as it's comparing like with like. GFC has been expensive throughout the Scally era for reasons that are well documented and not always the result of football costs.
While we are all enjoying the current success most will feel it's a price worth paying I'd guess.

I do agree with Mark though that if it possible to buy the the ticket online for £18 then that must surely be the cheapest?

They should have taken into account the online prices aswell. It may only be £3 less a game, but it helps us not so well off people who live outside Kent and have £33 train fare to get to a home game!

Mark you compare apples with apples, apples with oranges. As the prices were the same last season what justification would there have been for that. Why do you leap to such a one eyed defense every time someone posts something that is not a round of applause?

The survey was done on set criteria. Season tickets, on the day price, cup of tea, pie and programme. I'm not surprised we are the dearest. It's been a gripe of mine for many seasons. We are far too expensive for this division. Ok so we are playing great football at the moment, but if it had been that dross we were watching for the last 8 or so seasons, we'd still be paying the same price.

Just been to Tesco! £1.69 for a bag of apples, £1.40 for 4 oranges! Disgusting!
