King and Constantine

Postby bunburygills » Fri May 16, 2014 8:30 am

Just for interest, I see that Marlon King has just been sentenced to another 18 month stint at her Majesty's pleasure. You just can't help some people. On a different note, I see Stephen Constantine, who was strongly linked as the gills new manager before Martin Allen took over, has just been signed up for 2 years by the Rwanda national team. I remember writing at the time that I wouldn't mind him being given the Gills job. Be interesting to see how he goes out there.

King is by some distance the most unpleasant individual ever to have put on a GFC shirt. In this latest case he even tried to blame the victim for the offence. I'm not instinctively a 'bang 'em up' advocate but in this instance, given his record, I'm surprised that he will probably be back as a 'valued member of society' in less than 12 months.

I hear a lot about second chances and, to a degree everyone does deserve a second chance but there are some privileges where that should no longer apply and being a role model playing football is one of those. I cannot think of one person who does similar that hasn't gone on to something again. How many chances do they want? Do they not realise the pay they get for doing something they love that can never be called a hard days work? Clearly fame and fortune goes to their heads and we have a load of Justin Beiber style prima-donas running around.

As for Constantine his name often comes up. He is often lauded as being an influencial up and coming manager yet never gets offered even half decent jobs. That doesn't seem quite right. We also hear a lot about certain managers not being considered for certain jobs as they don't have the right coaching certificates and yet many Premier League clubs simply hand the reins over to a current player. None of this makes any sense!!!

I honestly think King Consantine of Greece at 73 is a bit to old to coach even the 131 st ranked team in the World, but hey what do I know ? Maybe her Maj will take over the Scottish team next year and push for a place in the 2018 World Cup , and there's people who say the monarchy is a waste of money.
