Fleetwood Town v Gillingham- Match Thread

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Tue Oct 28, 2014 3:25 pm

We make the long journey to Fleetwood on Saturday in search of our first away win of the season, and first win in weeks.Fleetwood have started life in League one really well and sit in 11th place on 19 points.I think we need to be looking at something from the game, but if we could sneak the win it would be a great result.Loft is back from his suspension so that gives us a boost.

What Team and Formation would you play?

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

--------------------------------Nelson-------------------------------------
Hoyte-------------Legge-----------------Egan---------------------Martin
---------Hessenthaler---------Loft-----------------Doughty--------------
McGlashan------------------------------------------------------Dickenson
------------------------------Kedwell---------------------------------------

Subs: Bywater (GK), Hause, Pritchard, Dack, McDonald, Norris, German

I think the back five picks itself and Kortney Hause might be fit enough to be named in the eighteen man squad, but I cannot see us risking two players who are short of match fitness and throwing them into the starting eleven, Doug Loft is also our Captain and one of the very few experienced players we have got in the squad and I expect we will see Loft play alongside Hessenthaler and Doughty in a three man central midfield, one of these three needs to be given the freedom to go forward and play as a supporting striker, at Rochdale it was Amine Linganzi, Doughty might be given that role tomorrow - Hause and Loft are both not quite at 100% and I think between the two of them Loft is more likely to start.

Away from home Peter Taylor has played five in midfield and I expect that to continue again against Fleetwood Town, if Peter Taylor wants the added security of a fifth midfielder then Danny Kedwell has to play as the isolated centre forward, Danny Kedwell gives Gillingham a focal point in attack because Kedwell can hold the ball up, flick the ball on and Keds gives our attack the physical presence which is often lacking when-ever Cody McDonald plays on his own up-front, I also think Cody McDonald would benefit being an impact sub, he can come on fully fresh against tiring defenders and we have a few players who do better from the bench rather then when they start - (Norris and Dack come to mind straight away).

It is going to be a long long day tomorrow and we will be leaving from Woodlands Road at 7AM and depending on traffic and stoppages we might get to the ground at 1.45PM, Diane won't be able to drive this time and we're going via Supporters Coach as it will be cheaper and Diane's Car can do with a rest after all the long trips to Oldham, Rochdale, Barnsley, Sheffield United, Yeovil Town and Notts County already this season - really we need five of us and two drivers if we were going to go via car to Fleetwood Town tomorrow.

Two Years a go I stood on the terrace behind the goal, but this time I am going to be sitting in the seated away section, as the seated section has a side on view of the action, there is only a £2 difference between standing and sitting and I decided to get a seated ticket for Fleetwood Town Away.

Hopefully Gillingham can get there first away win of the season in the league tomorrow - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God it's easy to see why I am infatuated with this woman Ms. Fanny Mulligan, what a woman, what enthusiasm, knowing whats going to happen before hand but still boarding the Titanic, convinced it will miss the ice burg this time ,what a woman.
Didn't see her report from last weeks match, so I am concerned maybe her pencil is not as sharp as it was at the beginning of the season, but I will watch with abated breath for the 439 page report on todays game with Fleetwood(where the hell is Fleetwood) which young Ms Mulligan will write on her way home.
Go Fanny GO,( sorry hope I am not being forward calling you Fanny,) give a big hooray for all of us who were unable to go, (that includes Lidbit and his family of 16 who were lucky enough to watch todays Rotherham game) bring home a win for the mighty Gills.

I didn`t go or listen today, but another defeat and no goals scored. This is getting a real concern now,and we can`t see when we will win next.I have lost faith in Taylor and don`t see him turning it around.I hope he does but the results speak for themselves. The FA Cup game next week is game we should go out all attack,we have nothing to lose in a one off game.

For the first time in a while it seems we actually deserved to come away with a point, about the same amount of possession time , same number of shots, same number of shots on goal , the only difference they got a goal scoring forward on loan yesterday, and he scored, we got a mid fielder on loan earlier in the week and he didn't.
Couple of cup games coming up next, then Orient at home, don't care that much about the cup, think we have bigger fish to fry, but 3 against Orient and 3 against Port Vale seems a must before the end of the month .

You make me chuckle Chicago, I think Lidbid was quite glad he was where he was yesterday instead of Rotherham and certainly Fleetwood, lol.

I think this has been the tipping point for Taylor. It wouldn't be a surprise if he was given his papers today or tomorrow as we don't seem able to find the net, can't win games if we don't! Scally will find it difficult to say why Taylor should stay whilst Allen had to go and after the amount of fans calling for him to go yesterday, it will become untenable.
