First football match!!

Postby mark8364 » Wed Dec 17, 2014 4:26 pm

We have commented before when our first game was, but for the parents amongst us...
At what age did you take your son/daughter to their first game? My daughter will be 2 in March and a trip to Wycombe Wanderers wont be far away!

My then ten year old daughter "took me" to see Gillingham v Brentford during Christmas 1997 when we were visiting family , a midweek game that we won and my first sight of SuperBob scoring , albeit for his then employers Brentford .

I took my daughter to her first game this season against Scunthorpe Utd.We lost 0-3,but she enjoyed it.She was back for the Bristol City FA Cup game, and will be going on Saturday. Her record is two defeats,so hopefully it is not a defeat on Saturday.
Noircat Premier League Champion 2007,and 2014.Noircat FA Cup (Runner Up 2014).Promoted to the Premier League (Runner Up 2017,and 2020 in the Championship).

Why ??? It's a dreadful, windswept, hillside ground, crap facilities, no local amenities. Why not go to MK Dons, there's shopping, stores, places to eat and cover on all sides of the pitch. Plus it will make you immensely popular with Elgrande and Posh ( wherever he is).

Wycombe is the nearest League team to wear she was born, so she can be a Wycombe fan! It's the whole reason I support Gillingham because I was born there!

That's like saying if she had been born in holloway you'ld want her to spend her life in prison. Give the girl a break, take her somewhere nice.

I think Rimshot meant if you are going to choose there are greater options! All I hear is the likes of "I am a Man U fan because my dad has always been a season ticket holder" and many follow teams for the same reason. I know people who have never stepped foot in Ireland but consider themselves Irish because their dad is (usually around St Patrick's day). For that reason I would think it would be quite feasible for her assume she would be a Gills fan providing she likes football in the first place!
