What's Your Gillingham Starting Eleven

Postby fan_of_mulligan » Mon Jun 15, 2015 8:15 pm

Looking at the signings Gillingham have made so far, (and there is every chance my line up will change based on any further new signings), then I think Gillingham could line up like this at the start of The 2015 / 2016 season.

-----------------------------------NewGK--------------------------------------
--------------Egan---------------NewCB-----------------Ehmer??----------------
Jackson------------A.Morris------------------Loft------------------Garmston
-----------------------------------Dack----------------------------------------
--------------------McDonald---------------NewST--------------------------

Subs: G.Morris, New CB, Hessenthaler, McGlashan, B.Dickenson, Norris, Williamson

Outside The Eighteen: Tom Hadler, Josh Hare, Callum Davies, Emmanuel Osadebe, Elliott List - Josh Pritchard and Stuart Nelson if both players are still with Gillingham Football Club by the time the season starts.

I think Justin Edinburgh's signings so far indicate that Gillingham will continue to line up with a 3.4.1.2 formation, Ryan Jackson and Bradley Garmston will provide Gillingham with a lot of pace and athleticism down both flanks and this formation defiantly got the best out of Bradley Dack who looked liked a new player once he played in his natural number ten role.

In my personal opinion, I think Justin Edinburgh has a Number One Goalkeeper in mind to replace Stuart Nelson, with Glenn Morris more then capable of filling in as our understudy goalkeeper, hopefully we can re-sign Max Ehmer, and with a three centre back formation Gillingham will need to sign two more centre back's, someone to play alongside John Egan and Max Ehmer, and someone else to provide cover and competition to the three defenders who are going to be starting.

Next season will see four strikers pushing for two starting roles (again I am only making a educated guess), I think Justin Edinburgh will sign a target-man / supporting striker to play alongside Cody McDonald with Luke Norris and Ben Williamson completing our four senior strikers for Gillingham's First Team, last season we had Cody McDonald, Danny Kedwell and Luke Norris as our three main striker's, but I think that is because Peter Taylor wanted to play five in midfield and one up top, with two strikers likely to start week in, week out, then we're going to need two additional strikers to provide cover and competition.

How do you think Gillingham will line up for the start of The 2015 / 2016 season, do you agree with my possible team selection or do any of you feel that Gillingham will line up differently ??? - feel free to post your own line up's and transfer suggestions as it will be interesting to see how you think Gillingham will line up on The 8th of August.
