Rory Donnelly's International Dream

Postby Garawa » Tue Oct 13, 2015 1:04 pm

We don't often have players listed for potential international duty but I see the recent article with his has him dreaming of sneaking a place at France next summer. Having a look at their current strikers for the most recent matches played, here is who he is up against:

Kyle Lafferty (Norwich City)
Niall McGinn (Aberdeen)
Jamie Ward (Nottingham Forest)
Josh Magennis (Kilmarnock)
Billy Mckay (Dundee United)
Will Grigg (Wigan Athletic)
Liam Boyce (Ross County)

Personally I can't see him getting in especially when a squad is likely to have 4 strikers. Grigg is there at our level and I've quite liked him yet he has only been used 7 times. Carry on like he is and he will be hard to ignore. Have N.I. moved on a lot for him to not be considered or is he worth a shot should he carry on?

I think Northern Ireland have always had to pick players from the lower divisions as there isn`t too many players playing in the Premier League. If Donnelly gets 15+ then he has a decent chance as others may not score that many like Lafferty and Ward.
Noircat Premier League Champion 2007,and 2014.Noircat FA Cup (Runner Up 2014).Promoted to the Premier League (Runner Up 2017,and 2020 in the Championship).
