I'm glad about that but as somebody who has barely managed anyone of late, what would we have done so badly wrong that he wouldn't want to come here?!

A Few Names were mentioned on Saturday and here are some of the runners and riders for The Gillingham Job......

John Askey - The best thing about this rumour is that The John Askey Rumour was started by Me, Diane, Rob and a Port Vale Supporter, and the fact that Macclesfield Town Supporters are speaking about this on there own website and John Askey is 50/1 for The Gillingham Job shows that SKY Bet are completely clueless when it comes to naming manager's for The Gillingham Managerial Position.

But John Askey was at the match yesterday and he is working on a shoestring budget at Macclesfield Town and maybe the chance to manage Gillingham in The Football League would be a job that appeals to him, Efe Sodje being his assistant manager is the drawback and might be something that counts against him.

He is also 50 so might not fit the young and flamboyant manager that Paul Scally is looking for and some of our supporters would moan and complain about appointing a Non League Manager after Andy Hessenthaler and Mark Stimson, but I think he is a out-side contender for The Gillingham Job.

Paul Cook and Lee Johnson - Both are Manager's at Chesterfield and Oldham Athletic respectively and I am not sure if we will pay compensation to appoint a new manager, of the two if them I do think that Lee Johnson would be the manager we would look to appoint but he is doing a decent job at Oldham Athletic and I cannot see Lee Johnson leaving Oldham Athletic for a relegation battle in the same division.

Brian McDermott - Brian McDermott may well be 53 but he would be a fantastic appointment at Gillingham Football Club for the work he did at Reading as Brian McDermott worked his way through the coaching positions before taking the managerial role at Reading and he did a good job there, Brian McDermott was recently Leeds United Manager and had to manage in tough circumstances and Leeds United just to be going through manager after manager at the moment.

Uwe Rosler - Uwe Rosler is my personal number one choice for The Gillingham Manager Position because Uwe Rosler did a fantastic job with Brentford who traditionally have been a same sized club as Gillingham (although new investment has taken them into The Championship), and Uwe Rosler built that Brentford Team that eventually got promoted into The Championship and if he is given the time to build a squad over a number of season's then I think he would do a incredible job with Gillingham.

In,out,in out you shake it all about ,you do the Skully pokey and you turn around thats what its all about, hey. Denis Wise jumps ship more times than I have had hot dinners good riddance to him we don't need a guy like that. Andy Nelson ,as in ANDY NELSON the 80 year old ex Gills manager, hahaha now there's a step forward, lol. ??
Maybe the Gills number two is the man for the job, it just worries me a little bit he would have the other three who are running the show in his ear all the time and might not be able to make his own sink or swim decisions.
I honestly don't think the Gillingham job is that great, firstly you have Scally to contend with, look at his track record in court and firing managers, that must be like walking round on egg shells all the time, then you have a small town team in an area I am informed is not a football town so the amount of money you have to spend on players is very limited, sure if your managing Margate or Hastings then I am sure it's a nice job to have , but if you have had experience in the two upper division who wants to manage a struggling Gillingham team ?? I guess all unemployed managers think they can do a better job than the guy before them, thats why there managers in the crazy world of football.
Oh well not to worry Scally will be here soon, riding in on his white horse to save the day yet again, man oh man what a guy he is, my hero.

Big Chief Scally speaks with forked tongue...the last time we had an outspoken manager he got us promotion, started demanding more funds and got fired for his trouble. Pulis suffered the same fate. What Scally wants is a cheap yes-man.

Rimshot; Pulis had more money to spend than any manager before or after and his record of falling out with chairmen is not blemish free. I am no Scally lover, but slating him for allowing Pulis to buy the players he did?
What about M. Weatherley?

My point was that far from success providing a secure future for our managers it actually works against them - it's a view that I absolutely stand by. The great Pulis 'spend' is largely a myth propagated by Scally himself and ranks alongside him claiming to have 'won' the court case when in fact we had to pay something in the order of £70k to TP.

The absolute judgement on the matter was made by the fans when Stoke played GFC -= Scally banned him from the Directors' box, the home crowd chanted his name.

I am 100% convinced that Scally is very happy with Gillingham being in the 1st and 2nd division, I don't think he really wants anything more than that.
I watch TP do good things in the Premier Division, I see that losers Martins team Barnet heading towards a place in Division 2 with a goal difference of +35 and I see us wallowing in the sewer heading for Division 2 being managed by committee because Scally had no dam plan B when he fired Taylor. No thats wrong,of course he did,let the staff already on the pay roll manage the team, that saves a mill a year.

The latest news on Gillingham's Next Managerial Appointment see's Ady Pennock, John Askey, Nathan Jones and Mark Robson all mentioned in the above article.

Paul Scally hasn't ruled out appointing a manager employed at another club and the likes of Darrell Clarke and Gareth Ainsworth have also been mentioned as potential candidates for The Gillingham Job.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30745626

Andy Hessenthaler has also given A Interview on The BBC Football Website ruling himself out of The Gillingham Job but he would like to stay at the club in another capacity.

I personally think that Andy Hessenthaler should take on The Director Of Football Development Role he had back in The 2012 / 2013 season, where Andy Hessenthaler was involved with contract negotiations, scouting players, watching reserve games and following up a list of recommended transfer targets from Martin Allen - we made some great signings that season with Stuart Nelson, Ben Strevons, Deon Burton, Adam Barrett, Myles Weston and Charlie Allen all signing for the club.

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE,latest news in the search for Gillingham FC's new Manager. Brian Clough, Bill Shankley and Bobby Moore, have now suprisingly withdrawn their names from consideration for the position.
Sky Bet has Genghis Khan , Admiral Horatio Nelson and William of Orange all at 2/1 as the front runners for the position.

James Beattie has applied to be Gillingham Manager, and by making his interest known he has probably put himself in the shop window for other clubs, should he not get The Gillingham Job.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30807925

Justin Edinburgh says Newport County have had no contact from Gillingham over their vacant manager's position.
