Sheffield Utd v Gillingham- Match Thread

Sheffield Utd away on Saturday, and we have a good record at Bramall Lane in recent years. We`re unbeaten there in our last 6 trips, and four of them have been draws.I think we would all take a point up there on Saturday.Sheffield Utd were well beaten at Swindon last Saturday, but they recovered and beat Leyton Orient away 0-1 in the League Cup last Night. We`re unbeaten in three games,so it would be nice to keep the unbeaten run going.I am expecting a defeat this time, but we should be a hard side to break down going on recent games.

What Team would you play?

I would expect a defeat as well however with 12 conceded in the first 6 games but only 2 conceded in the last 6, it shows we have shored up the defence somewhat and could nick a result if we keep solid at the back.

With the constant changes in personnel I find it hard to keep up with the current squad but a definite recall for Carl Asaba.

If we come away with three points then I will jump on the PT band wagon, if we come away with a point, I will run along behind waiting to jump on and trying to avoid the manure . Go Gillingham , I'm getting tired of running and need to be riding.

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

--------------------------------Bywater-------------------------------------
Hoyte-----------------Egan----------------Hause--------------------Martin
---------------A.Morris--------Pritchard------------Loft--------------------
McGlashan-------------------------------------------------------------Dack
--------------------------------McDonald------------------------------------

Subs: G.Morris (GK), Davies, Linganzi, Hessenthaler, Dickenson, Norris, German

I think Gavin Hoyte will start at right back with Aaron Morris moving back into his natural midfielder role, if Jake Hessenthaler has a slight hamstring problem because of fatigue then I would drop Jake Hessenthaler to the bench and Josh Pritchard can start in his place, I would like to see what Josh Pritchard can do when he starts a league game as all of Josh Pritchard's league appearances this season have come from the subs bench.

Five in midfield is probably how Gillingham will line up away from home as we look to be solid defensively, well organized structurally, very difficult to break down and looking to frustrate Sheffield United, because if Gillingham can keep the score at 0 - 0 or go 1 - 0 in the first 25 - 30 minutes then we can frustrate Sheffield United's Home Supporters and the nervousness and frustrations from the home support will transmit to The Sheffield United Players who are out on the pitch, a repeat of last season's performance and result would be fantastic, a draw would also keep our unbeaten run going as well.

Gillingham Supporters are in the upper tier for tomorrow's match, where as last season we were sat in the lower tier, I just hope the stewards have the foresight to actually open three blocks because last season our view was impeded by three drunk blokes who stood in-front of everyone and blocked our view of the game, anyone know of where away fans can park safely without someone damaging Diane's Car ??? - Last Year some idiots threw bottle's at The Supporters Coach and The Stewards just stood there and did nothing, would we have to park some distance away from Bramall Lane ???

I listened to the game on Gillsplayer, and How we only lost 2-1 is beyond belief. They hit the post at least twice,we cleared two off the line, and Bywater kept us in the game with some very good saves. It was such a surprise when Norris put us ahead with a great goal and you start to think this could be a very good smash and grab. Then Sheffield Utd equalise not too long after, and once the 6 minutes for injury time went up you just know we will not hold on.Their winner was scored in the 97th minute which Taylor and Hessy were not happy with, but Gillsplayer said we were time wasting a bit so maybe that was the reason why.

It was gutting to lose so late on after defending so well to keep Utd out,but really we should have been well beat.I know we have not won one of our League away games yet,but it is still too early to worry about our away form as we have already won twice in the Cup competitions so far.

Some things in life are the natural order. Day follows night, winter follows autumn, Gillingham concede a last minute goal. Without those things we would all lose our sense of equilibrium and the world would descend into chaos.

From everything I have read in the past 24 hours, if we had come away with a draw I think everyone in Sheffield would have sent e mails to League Headquarters, claiming GFC stole a point and they should return it, dam we seemed to have been awful.
