Gillingham v Leyton Orient-Match Thread (JPT ASF)

We play Leyton Orient at Priestfield on Saturday in the JPT Area Semi-Final,as both Teams have a free week after being knocked out of the FA Cup first round. The crowd looks like being a tad over 2,000 at the most as Ticket sales are not selling well. The Medway Stand is the only Stand open, and some Rainham Enders are annoyed that they cannot sit in their seat. The Club were hoping the Medway Stand would sell out,and then they could open up the Rainham End.I think the Club should announce that they`re opening it up now,as that could put an extra 500+ on the gate. The players may find it hard playing at an empty Rainham End,and the main support comes from that end.

Last Saturday`s draw against Port Vale felt like a defeat after conceding so late, but this game is a chance for us to reach the area Final against either Bristol City or Coventry City in a two legged tie.I`m hoping we pick the strongest Team possible and can get the win.Orient are doing that well either.Hopefully the game is a lot less nervy than the 3-2 win against them a couple of weeks back.

What Team would you pick for this game?

Ridiculous Gillsfan, you cant drop in form Legge so I suggest one of your defensive Egans need to go in favour of Leon. Good job it's not the other way round otherwise you be being asked to drop a Legge which sounds a bit wrong!

Peter Taylor says Joe Martin will have to fight for his place, after Adam Chicksen has impressed since Martin has been suspended.I think Martin will be on the bench tomorrow.

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

----------------------------------Nelson-------------------------------------
------------Legge----------------Egan-------------------Ehmer-------------
Hoyte---------------------------------------------------------------Chicksen
--------Hessenthaler------------Loft------------------Doughty-------------
-------------------McDonald-------------Dickenson--------------------------

Subs: G.Morris (GK), Lennon, Dack, McGlashan, Kedwell

I think Peter Taylor will stick with the 5.3.2 formation which almost got us a win against Port Vale last Saturday, while I do not like the 5.3.2 formation for a home match, it was when we opened up when Gillingham created there own problems, why was John Egan playing at right back against Port Vale ???

Despite his error last week I still think Stuart Nelson should start against Leyton Orient, I don’t think we should let Stuart Nelson’s error over-shadow or disguise the fact that Stuart Nelson made 5-6 fantastic saves to keep us in that game against Port Vale, I know it was a bad mistake from a player who rarely makes them, the fact Stuart Nelson held his hand up straight after the full time whistle means that he himself knows he made a mistake for Port Vale’s equaliser.

We’re four matches unbeaten, it be nice to make it five unbeaten with a win tomorrow, while League One survival is our highest priority, success in The Football League Trophy could kick-start our league form as the players will all want to start should Gillingham reach The Football League Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium, team talk practically sorts itself out if we want to go all the way to Wembley – COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!

Another win for the mighty Gills coming up, Orient having to send on loan player back, have injury problems, and Gillingham are at about full strength.
Taylor's chance to show he has not forgotten how to win big, throw four forward and lets have three different scorers today (and in their net ,not ours) big Gillingham 3-1 win and then on wards to a pay day at Wembley. GO BIG BLUE

WWOOOWWW HHHOOOO so a win, is a win, is a win,1-0, 2-0,3-1 who cares ,we WON. Who do we get in the next round ? A crowd of 3,300 , seems just crazy, why Scally didn't sell 10 buck tickets and get 6000 in the gate, did all the poor brow beaten hubby's of Gillingham have to go Christmas shopping today ?
Can not wait to read a report on the game,we seemed to have a lot of the ball but no idea how to shoot until the 2nd half , but as usual I might be wrong ?

A very good Team performance. It wasn`t always pretty, but we battled as a Team and defended as a Team to secure the win and a clean sheet.Trevor Kettle did his best to stop us going through making some odd decisions. He would not give us a foul, but would blow up nearly every time an Orient player went down.I thought we were heading for penalty`s but Egan stepped up and headed Doughty`s cross in.We made hard work of it as Orient had a few chances, and when they missed them you think it will be our day.It was great to witness a win on a Saturday, and fantastic that we are now in the Area Final. Our League season has not been great, but it`s good to have something to look forward to after Christmas.I hope that Coventry beat Bristol City,as I would rather play them over two legs.

We are five games unbeaten in all Competitions now so it is good to see we are recovering.
