I think Gillingham might line up like this on Wednesday Night.........

---------------------------------G.Morris-----------------------------------
Romeo----------Lennon----------------------Staunton-----------Martin
-----------------Pritchard--------------------Blanchard------------------
Webster------------------------------------------------------------Freiter
-----------------Millbank----------------------German-------------------

Subs: Newcombe (GK), Bent, M.Dickenson, Leonard, Sellans

I think Glenn Morris, Joe Martin, Josh Pritchard and Antonio German will be the only senior first team players who will play on Wednesday Night with the rest of the squad being made up of youngsters from our youth and development squads, Aidan Blanchard is someone to look out for if he does play on Wednesday Night as Blanchard scored in our 1-0 win against Cardiff City and he scored again in our 3-2 defeat to Watford, Blanchard is unlucky that he plays in a position where Gillingham have the strongest depth in the whole first team squad as we have got so many options for central midfield (Loft, Hessenthaler, Doughty, Pritchard, Linganzi, Morris, Dack and even Callum Davies can play as a defensive holding midfielder).

With Dartford playing in The FA Trophy this weekend, they will not look to play there strongest team against Gillingham in The Kent Senior Cup on Wednesday Night, there might be a few squad players who get game-time and a few academy players who get the opportunity to play for Dartford's First Team and we will probably see two academy sides with fringe first team players playing in both squads.

If Amine Linganzi and Danny Kedwell are fit I would like to see both of them play for a hour on Wednesday to get themselves fit for Saturday, but if there are doubts over both players fitness, then Peter Taylor might not risk playing either of them.

I have never seen Gillingham play at home in The Kent Senior Cup since Gills have re-entered the competition, can anyone remember the last time Gillingham played a home game in this competition ???

Don't know about that but I think the first GFC game I ever saw was the final of the Kent Senior Cup or its 1958 (?)equivalent against Folkestone Town. I was born in that sunny seaside place and I'm sure my dad supported Folkestone against the Gills. Perhaps someone with a better memory or more time on their hands can tell me if that game did take place ?

I hope Danny Leonard is involved; he is an ex pupil of mine when he was 10. We won the half time shoot out with him as a year 5 pupil who never missed. Even I could tell he was a good prospect and he has been at gills ever since! Really nice lad who I hope will do well for us in the future.

Rimshot,
I think Sittingbourne won in 58, Gillingham wins came in 1945/6 and 1947/8.

Interestingly Maidstone, Chatham, Tonbridge wells Rangers, Gravesend United, Northfleet United, Darford, all won before us, we seem to have been the last local club to lift the trophy.

Folkestone won it in 56-57, I think that must have been the game, final would have been played at Priestfield but GFC not involved I guess ?

So who on here will be going to the game tonight ???

I can only see a 500 attendance for tonight's match, Dartford are likely to name there Academy Side this evening, while Gillingham will play Glenn Morris, Josh Pritchard, Amine Linganzi, Antonio German, and the rest of the squad will be made up of Development Squad Players.

Nice win, even though I tend to cringe a bit when I read that we fielded half the first team to beat Dartford . Kent Senior Cup, about equal to the Tallest Midget in the room trophy. Now lets see a 7-2 win on Saturday ,then that will be something to shout about.

I don't really see the 4 players from the senior squad as being first team regulars, winning 7 - 3 against anyone is a good result.

I'm interested in your site monicker - any connection to the band ? I went to see the current line up only a few weeks back - they are still good value, still doing some great 4 part harmonies - and I've actually jammed with Butch, one of the originals.

I do like the group and have seen them many times since the 60's, the last time was a couple of years ago at a holiday camp in Bognor.

But in answer to your question the moniker is nothing to do with the group.
