Part 1 of 2 complete! Should part 2 come to fruition, any other signings in the summer will make next season very exciting.

Fantastic news.Cody gets a lot of unfair stick at times, but his goal record each season speaks for itself.62 goals in 135 games for the Club, and he could be on 80 goals by the end of next season. It`s great we have him tied down now.

Be there just as soon as the the replay of the Timor-Leste v Mongolia World Cup Qualifier is over, there all ready into the 64th minute, hang on honey I won't be long.
There are times I think maybe, just maybe, there is to much "must watch" football on TV.

I think Cody McDonald is Gillingham's Best Striker in our Post Championship Era, and if I was to do a top ten list of the strikers Gillingham have had from 2005 to the present day then I would like them as follows.......

1. Cody McDonald
2. Simeon Jackson
3. Danny Kedwell
4. Adebayo Akinfenwa
5. Deon Burton
6. Chris Dickson
7. Gary Mulligan (I got to put him in there :D)
8. Dennis Oli
9. Darren Byfield
10. John Marquis

62 goals in 135 appearances is a incredible record and strikers who can stick the ball into the back of the net on a consistent basis are worth there weight in gold, that's why it is so pleasing that Cody McDonald has signed a two year contract extension with Gillingham Football Club because we know that Cody McDonald is a proven and consistent goal-scorer in League One and someone we know who will score 15 - 20 goals every season.

Now we just need to sign John Marquis in the summer and offer John Egan a extended contract and I would be very very pleased if we can keep hold of these two as well as hang on to Cody McDonald, this summer is going to be "a very interesting summer" for Gillingham, and a few additions to strengthen the squad and we could well be genuine playoff contenders next season.

I dare you to put Mulligan's 'strike rate' in this thread. I should think Priestfield Stadium has been struck by lightning more regularly.
