Now that The 2015 / 2016 Season is over, I thought it be a idea to have A Rumour Mill Thread dedicated to all the rumour's and speculation regarding any possible signing's Gillingham might well be making this summer, and this Tweet from Luke on twitter makes for some very interesting reading.

Some of the potential signings Justin Edinburgh is looking to sign are still involved in the playoffs, Of course what that doesn't tell us is which playoffs those players are involved in.

You will get silly rumours like each season, but I was talking to a Bristol Rovers fan who said we were rumoured to be interested in their striker Matty Taylor. No idea if there is anything in it.He has 20 goals for them this season, and is 25 years old.

If we were to sign Kyle Letheren, then The Former Dundee Goalkeeper will probably be signed as back up to whoever Justin Edinburgh wants to sign as Gillingham's First Choice Goalkeeper.

I am still of the opinion that Justin Edinburgh will use the combined wages of Stuart Nelson and Glenn Morris to sign A Championship Number Two Goalkeeper to be Gillingham's Number One.

I really do hope that Gillingham can sign both Max Ehmer and Bradley Garmston, if we can sign both players then our defence will look something like this.........

----------------------------------------------New GK--------------------------------------------------
-----------------------Egan-----------------NewCB-----------------------Ehmer---------------------
Jackson/McGlashan--------------------------------------------------------------Garmston/Dickenson

Ryan Jackson and Jermaine McGlashan would compete for the right wing back spot, and likewise, Bradley Garmston and Brennan Dickenson would do the same for the left wing back spot, Gillingham would need to sign a New First Choice Goalkeeper and two centre back's and our defensive options would be complete for The 2015 / 2016 season.

The Gills Boss has so far added Former Newport County Right Back Ryan Jackson to his senior squad for The 2015, 2016 season.

But Edinburgh has distanced himself from speculation linking him with other players from his former club.

He Said: Those Players are good players, but I doubt that I would be looking to bring anyone else in, we have different targets that we are looking to bring to the club.

The above quote is what I saw mentioned in Friday's Kent Messenger and Justin Edinburgh has distanced himself from signing any other players from Newport County.

Gillingham are in talks with free agent Rene Howe about a return to football. If he signs, it will be the third time the big target man has linked up with Justin Edinburgh.

But this rumour on Gillingham Football Rumours mentions that Rene Howe could link up with Justin Edinburgh for a third time and re-sign for Gillingham.

From what I have seen,Rene Howe doesn`t look like the player he was when he was on loan before here.

Gillingham are in discussions with former Dagenham & Redbridge centre back Brian Saah.

I cannot see Gillingham signing Brian Saah, the twenty eight year old centre back would be considered as a worse replacement for Leon Legge - who I think we should of offered a contract too.

The fact that Leon Legge has been released, suggests that there are players released by Championship Clubs that Justin Edinburgh is looking to sign, or perhaps we're looking to sign s few players on Season Long Loan Deals.

Gillingham are reportedly keen to bring midfielder Jack Payne back to the club.

And another rumour, which A Port Vale sent to me on Twitter via Direct Message, is that 26 Year Old Striker Ben Williamson is in talks with Gillingham.

Goal-scoring stats are very mis-leading, John Marquis's goal-scoring record prior to signing for Gillingham wasn't the greatest and things just clicked for John Marquis at Gillingham because he was starting games every week, the opposite of this is also true, a player with a prolific goal-scoring record could sign for Gillingham and the goals then dry up.

Of The 114 appearances Ben Williamson has made for Port Vale, over 70 of those appearances have been from the substitutes bench, so I do wonder if Justin Edinburgh is looking to sign Ben Williamson to be our fourth choice striker and we sign someone to play alongside Cody McDonald ???

Assuming that the signing of Ben Williamson is actually going to happen, then I think the signing of Ben Williamson say's more about Aaron Millbank, Greg Cundle and Jake Sellans and these three are not good enough to be our fourth choice striker at this present moment in time.

I know these Twitter Pages are unreliable at best, but no matter how unreliable or absurd the rumour is, this rumour is still worth talking about.

Thankfully Cody McDonald was offered and accepted a two year contract extension with Gillingham and we don't see our better players walk out the door for free - which is something that has happened in the past.

Someone has posted a Text message in a photo on Twitter of Cody saying it`s not true.I doubt Brighton will look at signing Cody as they will want a younger player I reckon.

I've moved this out of the Rumour / Links thread as it has become a main topic of conversation.

I can't see Brighton doing it either but we have seen odd things like this before. As Cody has just signed a new deal he would be an expensive acquisition for them for a player like him and I can't see them taking a punt on a player still unproven at that level in all honesty. They could spend a tiny bit more a get a player dropping down a level.

From The Kent Sport News Facebook Page......

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh has admitted he is looking at bringing in up to another four permanent signings and possibly a couple of loans.

I think we're looking to sign A First Choice Goalkeeper, three centre back's, a central midfielder and a Target-Man to play alongside Cody McDonald - two of the centre back's will probably be signed on loan and one of those two could be Max Ehmer.
