Bradley Dack`s Price Tag

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Mon Aug 24, 2015 5:28 pm

Bradley Dack is the word on every Gills fans lips at the moment, and he has many admirers from opposition fans,to other Clubs.Dack is playing fantastically well and is involved in everything we do.He has 5 goals in 5 games and is carrying on his fine form from last season.Every fan is worried about an inevitable bid from a bigger club before the window shuts at the end of this Month. So what should we be looking for from other clubs? He has 2 years to run after this season,so it`s not like we`re under any pressure to sell during this season as we could still get a very big fee come next Summer.I wouldn`t sell him until at least next Summer, and would be looking at a seven figure sum with a 20% sell on clause. The ball is in our court and we have the power to turn down any offer we feel we want to.Dack also wants to stay and wants to play Championship football with this Club, which is also a bonus.

Could we go one better and offer Dack a 5 year deal around Christmas for even more security? The club is on the up,and we`re in a good position to get our best players tied down.

Firstly his agent will strongly advise against any contract extension I would imagine. Secondly his price would be reflecting in the fact he still has a little under 3 years remaining on his current contract.

My view is that his value would be higher than normal for a few of reasons. He is young and getting better every year. He plays in that highly sought after position of just behind the strikers, a sort of Lampard type role that many clubs would like love but can't find. Dele Alli set a precident and there is no reason whatsoever why Dack should not be on a par with him. Given that and his contract length I would envisage £6.5m to be the minimum.

We can't resist huge offers even without a need to sell as we would never be able to match a big contract offer without causing huge ripples from other players told they are earning the most we can offer and the player himself is hardly going to choose to earn thousands a week less! Not only that but it would be unfair on the player to hold his career back. The saving grace could be the contract length and teams may be unwilling to try him out yet and rather wait until the end of the season instead. By then a bidding war might ensue pushing his value further!

All very sound analysis. Of course it's much cheaper to offer a better contract to an existing player than to buy a good new one and less risky than trying to develop your own apprentices hoping they will make good.
Oh sorry, that's all predicated on the idea that you have ambitions to become a more successful football team as opposed to being one man's income stream.

I might be wrong, but I thought Bradley's dad was his adviser? As for his price tag I would say it's currently about £3m!

I hope we can hang on to him at least until the Christmas transfer window opens, by then if he has knocked in 16 ,17 or more he gone , but we should know, and he should know where we all stand come early January.
He will be looking for Championship footie I would imagine, don't think to many Prem teams will be lining up for him, but if were 5 points clear then who knows ,maybe he will think it's better to stay here than go to a team closer to the bottom of the Championship table than the top ,even one that is desperate for a goal scorer and will pay a high price to try and stay up. , Bet he would hate to end up swapping places with the MLGHTY GILLS WHEN WE GO UP IN MAY.

If I was giving Dack advice it would be to stay put, unless a top 4 championship team came in for him, or a secure (as secure as you can be) premiership team.

No point at all in him joining some very average championship team. He needs to go to a top footballing team.

My personal thoughts are this. Dack could be one of the greatest products we have ever produced. In my opinion Steve Bruce was the best, captained the champions of England and won lots of trophies. Peach was good but didnt win as much as Bruce. Cascarino did really well playing for his country and succesful in France. I think people forget that Gavin Peacock was a success for a gill's player. Hit the top division with Chelsea and Newcastle. Jarvis did great at wolves in the championship and has done ok at West Ham. We have the other lad whose name escapes me but who won a champions league medal with chelsea.

Dack, I feel could be the next best one since Bruce. He is something special, certainly for this division. I think he will stay for now, but we will lose him at some stage, and why worry, we will always lose our best players because we are whether we like it or not a small club with a small crowd who needs to capitalise on our good players.

Very exciting team we have at the moment, whether we can keep it up is by the by, we have players that want to play, pass, win and support each other. After Peter Taylors team that is like sunshine streaming through a coal mine.

Selling Dack would have devastating consequences on our attendance figures, once he goes so do the scouts leaving our crowds 500 short. :D

The BBC put on their site that Bristol City offered £300,000 for Dack this week, and it was rejected. If true i`m not surprised it would be turned down.
