New facilities

Postby Garawa » Fri Aug 28, 2015 2:09 pm

I remember speaking to FOM in pre-season and him saying how every few years the Gills seem to spend a fair amount of money and that this year was "due" to be another. Sure enough we seemed to bring in a number of players that would cost more than normal either through fees or from salaries but I'm not sure anyone expected the off the field antics?

A new blues bar is due open next month. I haven't seen it but I am told the Rainham End looks great and the food rivals a decent local restaurant. Now we have opened fantastic facilities at the training ground which can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uTYclwe8gI

A year or two ago we got into a row with the council over unpaid fees for the training facilities and here we are putting this in place. Does anyone feel this a little odd if we don't actually own it? Perhaps we have negotiated a long term deal for it and put money up front?

Not sure why these cycles occur but the club certainly seem to be pushing for higher things as we have players capable of it. I felt we weren't far away with Taylor but his insistence on 5 at the back made a joke of the players we had and now it feels as if that was a decade ago with how much has changed! Just have to keep hold of them (and the manager) now to make the most of it!

The gym looks really good, international standard. The food outlets as well look really good as well. We`re certainly looking good behind the scenes. It must have cost quite a lot though once you include the blues bar upgrade!

Gary, the new gym facilities are not at the training ground...they are at Priestfield Stadium! I thought the headline 'GILLINGHAM OPEN NEW GYM AT PRIESTFIELD' would have been the give away!

I searched for a link after initially reading it and found this one but the original article I read said it was at the training ground as it said we hadn't had them there before and it allowed the players to work harder at both locations!!! Bit weird! even more weirder then considering the only did them all up 2 years ago!
