Lets add a touch of realism

I think a lot of people are getting carried away with being top of the league. Do I think we will stay there? No but it will be fun giving it a go! So let's look at some facts of the season so far:
* 4 wins in August has only be achieved twice before this season and both were promotion winning seasons (although we accrued more points this season).
* The 3 home clean sheets at the start of a season was last achieved in the promotion winning season of 1963/4.
* The 3 goals conceded after 6 league games match the total of the promotion winning season of 1995/6 when we set a Football League record of only 20 goals conceded.
* We are the only side in League 1 still unbeaten and only one four in the whole of the Football League after 6 matches played.
After all that I would like to totally change my mind!! After all its always doom and gloom when we are at the bottom so why not revel in it when its the opposite!

I know we caught Sheffield at the start of the season, but lets admit it we thumped them and there favorites, along with Wigan to go up , and we thumped them as well, and if it had not been for a last second goal a couple of weeks ago we would be 3 points clear, and hell yes we can make it to the Chump Division this year ,even if we don't go up as Auto's we will win the play offs at wibbly wobbly Wembely.
Watch tomorrow Gillingham are going to win by three at least.

If they keep winning I'll keep hoping...see no reason why we can't stay in contention.

I felt at the start this was a very close and open league this year and didn't feel many teams could walk it. With the players we brought in coupled with a continued run of form from the end of last season and not having a long baron run like last year, I felt we would definitely improve on last season. That said I also felt we were capable of 7th or 8th so with the start we've had that will be frustrating. Beating the lower sides for me is the key so Blackpool, who were very organised and not at all like a side who won their first game in a century, was a very welcome result indeed and possibly our best of the season.
Keeping Dack in January in crucial. We saw how Chesterfield (or was it Rochdale) fell away after losing their potent goal-scorer. So often sides start strong, slip down and then next season find themselves in League 2. Keeping the young players hungry and the feel-good factor alive both in the squad and the stands will be Jed's biggest challenge and success if he pulls it off. Martin Allen did the same but ultimately at the expense of the squad.

Like Rimshot, if they keep winning I'll keep hoping. I know the run will end sometime, I just hope it's not this week or next week, but when it does, the players pick themselves up and start again.

Not much point in supporting a team if you don't get carried away when they are doing well. There are so many times when we are having bad runs so why not go mental when we are Top Of The League!!! I've even been inspired to make my first away trip for a while with the hope that we will get a result. That almost certainly means a first defeat of the season. Sorry in advance everyone!!
