Time for a change of tactic?

Postby Garawa » Mon Sep 28, 2015 7:31 pm

OK, firstly I don't want to sound negative and this isn't a negative post but we have under-performed in the last couple of games. At the same time Dack has gone a touch quiet and we have kept to a 4-1-3-2 formation with Wright the holding player.

Time for some rhetorical questions!
Is this a slight dip that we can get back with the home games?
Have the teams figured how to stop Dack and therefore the Gills playing?
Was Dack more adventurous because there was no Cody to assume the scoring responsibility?

Is it time to change things a little that might be a bit harder to teams to figure out? It possibly wouldn't hurt altering the midfield where Dack wouldn't get so isolated, it can always go back again later to catch them out. Perhaps the missing key could be McGlashan to stretch them a little giving Dack more room to play (this would however require a significant change in formation). Thought?

Think you answered your own question , you can see whats happening and so can the Scouts from other teams who are sitting in the stands at each game.
Nothing is more confusing in sport than the first few games of a season, then after half a dozen or so the trends start to set in and the high flyers often come sliding down to earth. Time for young Glasgow to earn his money and get it sorted out.
I don't for one second think our season is over, I don't mean that at all, but I think a play off spot is the best we can hope for, we don't appear to be creating and most of all taking the chances we get.
Come on Gillingham, I need to be able to watch you on the TV here in Chi town, one channel shows the Championship games every week.

I think away from home we should change our tactics as it has not really been working lately. At home it has been.I`d like to see McGlashan used more away as we lack pace to counter. At Colchester it was obvious to see we lacked the width.I think Teams are looking to mark Dack out of the game, and that has hurt us because most of our creativity comes through him.

Absolutely. Maybe its just what all teams will do during the season because we could so easily have beat Colchester had the penalty been scored and Cody's shot off the post gone in. It's tricky. We seem to be less potent because Dack is being nullified but at the same time, apart from Barnsley, we haven't really looked like losing in the league! It's a nice position to be in, but we do need to change it up a bit before we get stuck into one way of playing and can't adapt. We have the players to keep the opposition on their toes.
