Sad to see ex-Gills coach Alan Hodgkinson has died aged 79. I doubt many will remember him, but he was coach here under Gerry Summers in the late 70s. Gills missed out on promotion in 1979 by a point. Always struck me as one of the good guys.

Very sad news !!.Alan used to live around the corner from me in Wigmore !!.He invited me around with my dad for a chat about the Gills in about 1980,I was 13 at the time !!.He let me try on one of his England Caps which where locked in a display cabinet ....he was genuinely lovely guy !!.
Rest In Peace Alan !!. My dads & bro are up there too,please say hi !!.

79 was my first year in Medway and whilst I don't remember him its always sad to hear about the passing of a Gills family member>
