Spurs tickets

Postby Garawa » Mon Sep 12, 2016 4:20 pm

So the Spurs cup game goes on general sale on Wednesday. There was a massive uproar about them being only available to season ticket holders so people that may have been to both previous cup games but do not have a season ticket might miss out. The forums were full of it, the club was bombarded on twitter, yet despite this we have sold 1800 as of this morning, well below the 2944 we have been allocated.

Everyone knows the perk of being a ST holder is that you get first dibs for big games. It would have been unfair had people missed out having attended the previous two but as it turns out there was no issue so not sure why all the fuss!

Ha ha, welcome back Elgrande. Club are also selling special shirts to commemorate the event! Personally I don't see the point as a 3rd round tie shouldn't be seen as such an achievement but sales are quite good apparently so I can't argue!

I guess I must be missing something here ?? The game is next Wednesday and tickets went on sale last week for season ticket holders and now go on sale to the general public this Wednesday, a full one week before the game is to be played, am I right so far ? So anyone wanting a ticket has a full week to buy it and get to the game , do they know it's in North London not Rome ? Do these people intend walking there , like 10 miles a day , camping by the side of the M2 like some Deadheads following the Grateful Dead around the country , I don't seem to be able to see the problem here ??

When purchasing a season ticket the terms state that you have first refusal on cup games, there are no such terms offered on ordinary match tickets. I can sympathise with those who had been to previous cup games but they know the rules in advance, not everyone can get a season ticket for one reason or the other, but those are the breaks in life.

As a previously fanatical Spurs fan before I saw the light, I would not have dreamed of going to this match. As a Gills season ticket holder I am supposed to be very excited and to have queued up for hours to buy my ticket. I thought about it, and then decided not to bother. My reasons not to go are as follows. I know what a horrible journey it is to Tottenham at the best of times and these are not the best of times! Friends who have been this season say that the building work has made getting in and out of White Hart Lane even worse than usual. Secondly, which team do we expect Spurs to put out? Six fringe players and five kids I would think. If we win; great. If we lose then that would not be much fun. Thirdly; its only the third round of an inferior cup which doesn't really excite me. I'm not sure whether there is provision for extra time but there will be for penalties, so if it gets that far, goodness knows what time Gills fans will get home; probably early the next day I would think! Lastly, I may have been tempted to buy one of those half and half scarves, for which I would never have forgiven myself, so its best to stay away I think. I'm glad someone more enthusiatic than me (for this game only) will enjoy the ticket I could have had; if it had been at home I'd have been the first one there, and I wish us good luck.

I'm not sure why the League cup has suddenly diminished in many fans eyes. I can understand the trophy but to me the League Cup is still a major competition. (Its extra time and penalties by the way Lidbid). Sounds like we've sold all 3000 we've been given and made commemorative shirts so clearly this is as far as we should get and will lose easily. It's not like Bradford were in our our division a couple of seasons ago when they reached the final...........hang on

I think it's diminished because we all know that Spurs are going to put out an unrecognisable team so even if we were to win it would be a bit unsatisfactory. Years ago Spurs would have put out their first team which would have been exciting, although frightening at the same time. I would have enjoyed watching this at home, but away games, especially midweek ones are too much hassle for me these days.
