Wimbledon

Don't really know what to say after tonight's game. I thought for long periods we looked much better; for other periods we looked panicky and for some passages of play we looked absolute hopeless! Negatives first; what on Earth were we doing for both their goals? I bet Wimbledon won't have scored two easier goals than that this season. Why did Nelson suddenly lose the ability to kick the ball anywhere near where he intended? Wimbledon were a poor side yet we still failed to win. Does AP have any idea what his ideal starting eleven would be? I would suggest not. Positives; Dack is definitely getting back towards his best; he played very well. We are making chances; Donnelly missing a one on one but just as bad was Byrne hitting the outside of the post with a clear header. I was going to mention other good performances, but now I think about it, there aren't really any outstanding ones that come to mind. And what's all this nonsense that is coming out about JET basically being told to leave and to go back to QPR because of his behaviour? I seem to have drifted back to the negative again, but I thought the crowd's treatment of Donnelly when he was subbed was shameful. Since when do you basically jeer at one of your own as he leaves the pitch? Why is Cody such a hero? He often misses chances like the one Rory missed but the crowd still love him. Strange. This was definitely a game that we should have won; Wimbledon were worse than us! Oh, one last positive; Andy Barcham showed a touch of class at the end having scored the equaliser for the Dons. He walked around the whole pitch on his own, applauding the Gills fans and was the last man to leave the pitch. Quality.

At least we can lay claim to a title after the last 9 or 10 results, definitely the most boring team in the league.

Six draws and three loses make up our 2017 so far, hell I am to old for this, takes me back to the 69/70 season when we were playing Division 3 (old ) football, well at least we are now in Division One, so thats an improvement I guess.
We escaped the drop on goal average, sending Bournmouth down and ending up 2 points behind Bury, I often wonder what happened to Bury?? Well Bury are the last team we play before we start playing the big boys of the division , our wonderful 2 points out of a possible 9 in the last three games against the bums of the division has stuck us firmly in the doodoo along with them, andf or some reason I keep seeing the word Northampton flashing across my screen and some ex footie player sitting there rubbing his hands together in glee.

I get the impression that Pennock was annoyed about the lack of effort from Jet so dropped him and Jet was upset about not playing so it came to a head. There are all manner of theories banging about out there if it was a disciplinary incident that saw him sent back then maybe we won't have to pay his wages still (hence we suddenly had the ability to bring in Muldoon). If it wasn't and we decided to just send him back then how infuriating we are paying one of our largest wages on a player not even at the club! It's odd because he clearly isn't wanted by QPR and I presume now cannot play for anyone being outside of the transfer window. He could have carried on how he started, got 20 goals and a move in the summer. Now he has left himself with the prospect of running out his contract in obscurity and finding himself out of football after!

As for Donnelly DISGRACEFUL behaviour from the Gills fans to boo him. He is clearly short on confidence but so are many others and it's really not a surprise considering Jet used him very sparingly and Pennock brought him back in as a wide player. He causes defenders problems and I'm sure he will come good, trouble is by then the season might be over and Jet will have screwed with his career. I don't see any difference with that than Cody or others either. As for the rest Ehmer has come alive since regaining the captaincy, Wright the same after losing it. Dack looks like getting back to his usual self and Nelson has had a good season - the rest fairly abject.

The match was yet another in a long line of "would have won had we took our chances". Conceding seems inevitable but we are scoring. I still maintain we are only a goal every 2 games away from a win as games have been so marginal and when we get it, we could get a few providing we tweak the side for a little more stability. Teams below us are gaining form as usual, we are the only ones seemingly not. Southend next who beat Peterborough 4-1 away, both in the "safe" area of the table and these games at this stage of the season tend to be the more winnable ones.......if you take your chances!

ScrewJet, where he ends up I don't give two hoots, and as for Donnelly, you pays your money so as far as I am concerned you can cheer or boo who ever you want, the whole bloody Gillingham team should be booed, everyone from the owner down to the boot boy, or though what he has done wrong I don't know, lol, but I will find something.
How did Jet screw with Donnellys career ?? Were only a goal every two games away from a win, were running out of dam games and as for this weeks game against Southend they are well and truly in the promotion hunt,we better start playing better as of NOW, or this will be a four goal thriller...........for Southend, whooping our asses by 3 or 4 goals.

By playing Donnelly for odd minutes here and there. In 33 games under Jed this season he was played 20 times and in 11 of those was used for fewer than 20 minutes. 5 of those for less than 10! How can any player, let along second choice striker, build up match sharpness with that? He tried using Nouble and Jet there in the end when we knew that wasn't really their remit. Quigley's injury clearly scuppered his plans and he refused to go with the obvious instead choosing to play Cody up front on his own when we ALL know Cody can't play lone striker.
