Success Spoils Us

So here we are, we have been top of the league nearly all season and rightly so.
Yet by winning on bank holiday monday we reached a landmark that has gone unnoticed it would appear by our fans and the media.
Other than when Pulis took us up, our recent histor has always been to fight for promotion and hopefully make the play offs. Normally with 6 games to go we are all excited
that if we can maybe win 3 more or do this or do that we will be in the play offs.
Well on Bank holiday Monday Gillingham officially qualified for the play offs. If you look at the table nobody outside the play offs can catch us.
Now I know because of how this season has panned out the play offs would be seen as a disaster, but my point is how many accolades does Martin Allen deserve for making our
season so good a play off place would be seen as failure when in the past we have judged our best managers with their ability to win us the play offs.
Well done Martin Allen. Tactically a great win over Rotherham and a great season over all.
My friend Richard Cherry also wrote to Martin Allen about how the club was doing and he showed us the Hand written reply from MA himself. MA was thanking richard for his support and saying how excited he was as a manager to be the manager of a club that could go up as champions. He stated he had never experianced it before and that if we did achieve it he would be the proudes man around.
Top man, taking a top club up TOP.

Qualified for playoffs.
Certain for automatic promotion.
Good chance of a championship title for the first time in nearly fifty years.
A record for most league away wins in a season was set.
A record for the most league away points in a season was set.
A record unbeaten run away from home in the league was set.
Fewest league away defeats in a season was destroyed (previous best was 6 and is currently 1 with only 2 games left)!!!!
We were on target for a record points haul by a country mile at one point as well until getting the job done became the order of the day.
This is the first season in a while I haven't voted for player of the year. How do you pick? Can I put Martin Allen down for it?!
As I said elsewhere, I hope people intend to party and enjoy this as we don't get this chance very often!!!!!

Well done MA, he is going to get us up as Champions, well done , he did his job and very well, lets hope we have got him on a nice solid looking contract and he does not escape to Sunderland or Leeds in the next few days.
Also well done Beckham, young Davey Boy starting for PSG this afternoon, love him or hate him I for one hope he does well and gets himself into the final at the ripe old age of 137.

Just an aside as well, did you see him dancing about on the touchline looking like he was having A LOT of fun. How much of that was wind-up Evans I don't know but it was a picture! Loved the tannoy announcement asking "A Mr Steve Evans" to collect his Dominos pizza as soon as possible, barely saw the guy apart from constantly annoying a steward. He arrived at the dugout right before the whistle which only made the cheers more pronounced!

Gary one small point.
Can the commentator calm down the announcing of the players names just a little bit. there is enthusiasm and just plain daft.
I also thought that the song we come onto the pitch too was played for far too long. Its great at first as all the fans cheer, but then
the RE was trying to get the singing going and recognising the players but were drowned out by that record which just went on and on and on and on

All I would say to that is that how Dougie announces was requested by Martin Allen himself and the music was a bit iffy because Russ is quite ill so someone is doing it that wouldn't normally.

Fantastic performance from Mad Dog. The players too, of course. I believe we will go on to be champions although I hardly care about the silverware, for me it's getting out of this wretched division.

Lol my yellow friend.
Wine and Dine is a birthday treat for me from friends.
That said when I see you at the Torquay game could you just tip your hat to me please lol.
I saw you at the rotherham game but you were chatting so I didnt interupt.
Agree with Rimshot in that I am just so pleased to be getting out of this division, but it would be nice to say we have won something since 1964.
