Debutants

So three players will get a chance to show us what potential they have have tomorrow then! Mahlon Romeo, Sam Muggleton and Harry Grant (Martin Allen's nephew) all start against Burton alongside Tommy Forecast, Callum Davies, Andy Frampton, Steven Gregory, Bradley Dack, Charlie Allen, Adam Birchall and Myles Weston.

Not sure many will like that having made the trip but what an exciting time to blood new and exciting players ready for next season! On a personal note, MARTIN ALLEN, you have used too many players and for the first time ever I ran out of boxes in my spreadsheet!!!! Fine because with a couple of games left, we wouldn't bring in new faces would we??!! Thanks, now I have loads of changes to make. Ha ha! ;-)

It is good to see new players, but I'm not sure what will be learnt from this situation. I also think it might be unfair to the supporters who are travelling who were looking forward to seeing their favourite players and celebrating with them. Having said that, no one can really be annoyed with anything MA does at the moment, can they?!

be good to see and reward the youngsters. looking forward to the party train. The game is meaningless and a side show anyway whole squad travelling up so will all be there.

Martin Allen had a letter from a 'fan' who said he wasn't going to Burton because of all the changes! He left a mobile number, which Martin Allen rang!! He asked the guy in one simple question...'' Have you seen any of these youngsters play?'' The answer obviously was ''No''

Like we hadn't seen Barratt, Legge, Weston, Nelson play this season and what rubbish they turned out to be, lol! For these players to be picked ahead of anyone else (as others have been unused subs on the bench) it suggests there is something about them with a view to next season. Either that or they are borderline from academy games and MArtin Allen is giving them a decent chance to prove why they should be there next season! ;-) I am sure it is the former so how exciting the amount of good young kids we have breaking through!

Even Fergie has done the same. Gives new blood a chance in a good atmosphere playing alongside some experience. Some fans are never happy!

WHAT a story! Fairytale is too tame a word. In January Mahlon Romeo, along with Ashley Miller and a few others were told they no longer had a future at the club. Over-night Martin Allen thought about it and changed his mind and today was named in the squad. Having become the 6th debutante in the game and just a minute or two after entering the pitch, he scored a good goal!

Now this very young player has witnessed a league championship, been given a second chance that left both he and his manager in tears, scored on his debut and will next season play alongside some great players and great teams! That should help mould that young lad into a truly exceptional player if he is handled correctly! What a story!

Golly Gosh Garawa, what a fabulous marvelous wonderful story , just absolutely incredible and amazing, it's the stuff dreams are made of. Just out of interest which are the great teams he will be playing against next season ? Just pulling your chain mate, end of a great season, well done the Gills.

Great turnout; great atmosphere and the chance to see Gillingham's future with the youngsters on display yesterday. looks to be some exciting talent which when nurtured correctly will bode well going forward

Without wishing to be pedantic, it was Nyafli that came on and scored and not Mahlon Romeo. Romeo played all game. As Elg says, some fans are never happy. 6 debutants played yesterday and not one of them looked out of place against a pretty decent Burton team. Well done boys. Youv'e done something that every single one of us would give our right arms for. Playing for Gills. Even if you never make it, no one can take that away from you.

Haven't the foggiest why I typed Romeo when Nyafli was what was written in front of me! Must have got all muddled with the 6 new players! The story is still the same though.

What has happened to Ashley Miller? He was supposed to be the next one to break through ; now he has vanished without a trace! I also wondered why Evans didn't get a go yesterday having been around the squad, particularly at the start of the season.

Miller was one of the released players back in January I believe along with would should have Nyafli and Darren Hawkes. Given that Martin Allen likes to give the young lads a chance, it is odd that they have jumped ahead of others given slots on the bench and with 2 defenders that Jack Evans never had a go. That makes it even more bizarre that the only player not tried was Connor Essam and he is playing and scoring at a "higher" level. I can't get my head round that one.

I think MA and Connor never got over their fall out regarding Connor forgetting his passport on the France trip.
