Best and Worst results as a Gills fan?

What are the best and worst results you have experienced as a Gills fan? I became a fan in 2003,but remember wanting Gills to beat Man City and I felt gutted even then that Gills lost a game that looked won in the last five minutes. Here are my best and worst results below...

Best: Beating Swindon 5-0 at home as the performance was really good. How different our season`s went though...And beating Leeds 3-2 at Priestfield. We were 3-0 up against Leeds on half an hour and looking comfortable, then Leeds pulled one back just on H/T.That gave them belief and they got the second deservedly through a Beckford Penalty on 87 minutes. The last few minutes were tense, but we won an entertaining game with us right near the bottom and Leeds close to automatic Promotion. Also I enjoyed the dramatic 2-1 win over Chesterfield when we were 1-0 down just as we were aproaching the 90th minute mark.Mulligan equalised, then in the 92 Minute Dean McDonald scored a brilliant volley to win us the game.Priestfield went mad!

For Games I have not been at,beating Charlton 3-2 in the FA Cup with them at the time fourth in the Premier League, and a few days before they had beaten Chelsea.Another one beating Hereford 1-6 away, and listening to the game it seemed like we would score every time we had a shot.

Worst: Losing 2-5 at home to Coventry in our last home game of the season,we were outplayed by them completely.Luckily we stayed up on goal difference with a 0-0 draw at Stoke. The other worst One I was at was Dover at home in the FA Cup.We were already on a bad run,and it was always going to happen as we got Hess back from Dover, their fans were furious and that got their players right up for the game.Birchall scored with a 30 yard belter, and then ten minutes later they went 2-0 up.We played really bad,and the stick at the Station after with all those Dover fans topped it.

For games I have not been at,the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Burscough was horrible. We conceded early, but turned it around in the second half, only for two last minute goals to knock us out.I was watching Soccer Saturday and by Jeff`s reaction you knew it was Burscough who had got the winner. The 7-0 at Shrewsbury was a horrible result to listen to,as was the 5-0 at Carlisle,6-0 at Bristol City,5-0 at Colchester, and 5-0 at Swindon.

Best and worst for me must be both very recent. Worst was the Wycombe and Dover home defeats that sparked all the Hessy / Scally out calls. It possibly just tops the way we so meekly fell out of League 1 against Wycombe the season before. I think that not for the performance as such, but the way dozens of people barged passed me to get to Scally, it was probably the most uncomfortable I have been at a game and lowest I had felt in terms of how far we had fallen.

The best had to be the Hereford 5-4. There have been better games but fewer matched the way the game twisted and turned. We were behind for most of it and should have been well out of it as injury time approached and yet somehow we turned a losing position into a win.

1-0 against Colchester 1974. The biggest gate in the league that night and the atmosphere was cracking! Worse; play off final Man City. I was dumbstruck, and to have to hear Oasis being played as we left was too much to bear. I had never hurt so much after a game especially having been on such a high for so much of the game and the build up before.

I was at that game at Shrewsbury, but I didn't feel as bad as how I felt losing 6-0 away at Aldershot, the last match of Keith Peacock's managership. I was gutted after the Wembley defeat by City and it was worse because I felt I couldn't do anything to make it better for my children. Best results? Play-off win at Wembley over Wigan, still get excited watching the DVD, the draw at Everton in the FA Cup in 1984 and the 5-3 win against Brentford in the round before. Sadly having supported the GIlls for so long there have been more lows than highs, but that only makes me appreciate the good times more.
