The start of a busy Christmas period for us,and a game against a fellow relegation battler.Tranmere are two points behind us and had picked up a bit until the last couple of weeks. They got thrashed at Peterborough in the FA Cup two weeks ago,and last Saturday got well beat 4-1 at Carlisle. They seem to be leaking goals a bit,so if we can take our second half performance from Saturday in to this game we may nick the win.A win would put us 12th atleast until the other games are played the following day.A defeat would be hard to take with tougher games to come, and against a side in a mini league with us.If we win it would be a nice early Christmas present for us Gills fans.

Team? I quite liked the Team we played on Saturday when Gregory and Weston came on.Hollands is injured,Hessenthaler and Dack should keep their places,Kedwell and McDonald worked well against Peterborough,Legge looks refreshed and should keep his place,Linganzi and Fagan might be fit enough for the bench this week.

Nelson
Harriman,Legge,Barrett,Martin
Gregory
Weston,Hessenthaler,Dack
Kedwell,McDonald

Subs: Howard,Davies,Daniels,Whelpdale/Lee,Fagan,Linganzi,Akinfenwa

Real "inpotant" game for us, there not exactly the best team at home, they have only won twice , but of course we have only won twice away so maybe a point looks in the cards ?
Dislike playing on a Friday night unless we win, a loss makes Saturdays a bit depressing watching the other scores come in at 10.45 in the morning.

Glad we didn't play with the deep midfielder against Peterboro, bizarrely we looked more solid with a straight 4. I don't mind a player dropping in like Hollands and Hessy did at times but when Gregory or Hollands sat there most of the game, our width narrowed dramatically. The strikers can can only get forward if the likes of Weston is charging wide instead of dropping deep to find the ball and it stretches their defenders as well leaving gaps for Cody to find.

Bit of a weird fixture list over Christmas really. Friday, Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday, Friday! Not sure when we last played 5 matches with none on a Tuesday or Saturday. Hope people don't have too much mulled wine and forget!

A massive win points wise, and an early Christmas present for us Gills fans.I listened to the game and from listening it seemed we started well and could have scored when Weston was one on one. They were praising young Hessy saying he was hitting some lovely long balls,he is taking his chance.Talking of taking their chance Akinfenwa came in for Kedwell to partner McDonald and scored both goals to earn a big three three points for us.Fair play to Bayo for taking his chance, his first goal looked a decent volley from the highlights. He went off injured,as did Weston so the injuries are building up,and you do worry what Team we will be able to put out against Leyton Orient on Boxing day.It was a big win,and it was important to win tonight with tougher games coming up,and we did that.
