As expected and without gaining another point, the Gills will be playing League 1 football again after sides below slipped up. Colchester sneaked a 4-1 win against Brentford which will make a few nervous next week but how nice to have a "competitive friendly" next week with neither side having anything to play for except pride. I wonder who will want it most? Shrewsbury to not finish bottom or us to end the season victorious before the player of the year awards and go into next season on a high?

Did I read it rite, two Gills players almost got booked for arguing amongst themselves? Jump on that one Scally , 5 quid tickets Wednesday night for a Gillingham v Gillingham, death match, along with 6 other bouts of Ultimate Fighting, way to go Gills players.

I`m really pleased we`re safe before the last game of the season.Shrewsbury are already relegated, but hopefully with no pressure our players can express themselves and get a good win.Hopefully next week Taylor`s contract, and a few players contracts can be offered to the players we want to keep. Its never too early to think about next season.
Would you like Taylor to stay?

Taylor strikes me as about as exciting as the present England Manager ,someone wake him up and see if he is still alive will they ? If you want a manager who is going to keep you mid table in the First Division for the next couple of seasons, then Taylor is your man, go for it, give him a 2 or 3 year contract.
If I win the lottery tonight and purchase the Gills over the next few weeks, then you will see someone like Gary Holt the Falkirk Manager here next year. Someone younger but with experience.
I bet Brian Giggs would be interested in coming here for a couple of years before he takes over Manchester United in 2017, think of the Pre Season games and the players we could get on loan. lol. Have to build an extension to his office so Sir Alex has somewhere to sit.
Where does David Moye's end up, of course he doesn't exactly need to work, what's he got 4 or 5 years left on a 4 million pounds a year contract, but I think his pride will get him back into football before the season starts again in July. Think I can see him ending up at somewhere like West Ham or Newcastle if they survive in the Premier ? Is there any betting on where he goes?

I suppose the question isn't "Do you want Taylor to stay" but instead "Do you think Taylor can shape the team they way he wants and do a good job"!!!
Gillsfan, many of these players were Allen signings to play a certain way. Personally I don't think we have been particularly exciting because he had something like 3/4 of a season to use players that didn't quite fit to what he would have liked. If the target was to keep us up then he did a good job. If it is to build on what we have next season then maybe not.
As Allen was sacked (as most managers are) based purely on results, we must surely base the same decision on Taylor. He has had 34 league matches and delivered 43 points which, if averaged out to 46 league matches would have given us a total of 58.2 points. Had anyone said we would end our first League 1 campaign on a similar number of points I would have been delighted. Now would we have faired better if he had had the players he wanted to deliver the style of play he wanted. I guess the answer has to be yes and therefore I think he has done extremely well and worthy of the position permanently.

I guess the thing is old darling, people like me and a few others on here,( mentioning no names Lidbid) are running out of time were getting 8888888 OLD, we have stood, sat, watched, seen, read, listened to Gillingham FC go between the 3rd and 4th division and basked ,basked I say in the glory of Division two foortball or Championship football for a few years, and we crave for a few more seasons there in the Championship before we go to the grave. (Lidbid can I be buried next to you so I have someone to talk to ?)
If Taylor can get us there more power to him, I think your figures prove what Taylor is a 58 points a season manager

58 points with entirely somebody else's squad this is not quite capable of playing the way he would like though. That is the key for me and really if you could add an extra 4 or 5 wins from having the correct players for the system he would want, you won't be far off the play-offs.

I'm going nowhere until I have seen Gills in the Prem for at least one season!

Daily Mail: "Kent man becomes world's oldest man at 673 years of age". It goes on to say he still watches the Gills at their 4th ground!
