So Mark Robins has been sacked by Huddersfield less than 24 hours into the new season! That must be a record and start a worrying trend.

Can someone please explain to me how this can be anything other than a disaster. It can't be based on one result, if it is its the worst decision ever. It must be based on previous issues so why go all through pre-season knowing the decision was imminent when all managers have been tied up to deals and they have no room to work their magic? He should have gone in pre-season or at least given 9 or 10 games to prove himself. Weird.

That's the way to do it said Mr.Punch , Hessy back in charge by the end of the Yeovil game this weekend, lol.
Robbins did a lousy job last season particularly towards the end , look at their record under him, played 68 and only won 22 or 23 I think I read somewhere, he had all the off season to get it sorted out and came roaring back with a 0-4 home defeat, guess the board saw more of the same old same old coming, so bye bye Markie boy, I don't blame them.

It does seem silly to give Robins all of pre-season to add to his squad,and then sack him after the first game.His record was 2 wins in 22 games,but shouldn`t they have got rid in May?

My guess at the end of last season the board voted to keep him by one vote, and after this game they met back in the boardroom and one board member had all the say, and persuaded another couple of members to vote against the manager, he gone.
I might be naive, but I honestly believe a good manager can come in and within a few training sessions decide who is on his side and who isn't, a couple of games in and he knows what he has got to work with.
As a manager (hard to imagine isn't it) I don't get to choose who I have in my organisation, they turn up from some dim and distant dark hole called Human Resources and it's my job to mold them into doing the job they need to do, and whilst not comparing myself with Sir Alex, although personally I DO see a similarity , ( except our pay checks ) I don't think it is impossible to do , see Tony Pullis and C.P., it's all about getting the players to buy into your program. Just my thunks.

Absolutely. Crazy to do it now if you weren't happy with results what was the likelyhood of results suddenly changing round completely? Next to none. If the chance was high then you use preseason to allow the new guy in charge to build. The only thing the next manager can do now is to either bring in a load of players currently out of contract or spend heavily buying, I doubt the second will be allowed.

I fear their chairman will help seal a relegation if he doesn't provide plenty of funds as the new manager will be stuck with players under performing, who will take time to work with the set up and can't do anything to change it. Ridiculous decision that could not be all about 1 result however bad it was.

OK the bet is on, I say they finish above 15th in the table and don't get relegated, ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, PAYABLE AT 50 CENTS A WEEK FOR LIKE TWO HUNDRED MILLION YEARS, and stick around long enough to pay OK, lol.

Either you stick with Mark Robins or you make the change in the summer, going somewhere in the middle of the two is crazy because the players will have signed for Huddersfield Town because of the manager, the way he wants the team to play and he might have preference for youth over experience, now a new manager might want to implement a new system, go for experience and sign his own players and appoint his own coaching staff and the best time to do all of that is in the summer, not during the middle or even at the beginning of the new season.

You only had to look at our own situation last year, Peter Taylor came in and the money was spent and we had to rely on the loan market and free agents to try and strengthen the squad and eventually we survived, now Peter Taylor has his own squad, but even then players like Fish, Barrett, Legge, Martin and Davies were still under contract so Peter Taylor couldn't make the wholesale changes needed to the defence - I don't think Taylor would of got rid of all five but 2 - 3 would of defiantly gone in my opinion.

The problem with The Championship is that all Chairman see the pot of gold which is The Premier League, one season in The Premier League could wipe all of your debts clean and give you money left over to either improve your stadium, or improve the infrastructure at the football club, but because the prize is so big, some chairman make poor judgement calls, you have to feel for Mark Robins as well, he must of been given assurances he was going to be given time to assemble the squad he wanted and now he has been booted out of a job.

Great start by Huddersfield, they will be playing First Division football next year the way there going,Mark Lillis takes over as caretaker manager, doomed I say ,DOOMED.
