- The Gills only wins over Newport have come in the FA Cup where they have won 2 of the 4 meetings against the old Newport. The other 7 meetings have seen 1 draw and 6 defeats. Newport won both ties last season and the season before it.
- Since drawing 3 games in a row over Christmas and New Year, Newport have only won or lost their last 38 league and cup games. 15 ended in wins whilst 22 ended in defeat. 10 of which were consecutive losses at the end of last season and start of this. They have lost their last 3 matches.
- In the league this season, Newport's only win on the road was a 1-0 victory at Morecambe. They have lost 8 of their last 9 away league games, including 4 in a row since that win at Morecambe, scoring 3 goals and conceding 18 in the process.
- Newport have taken 1 away lead in League 2 and given away 7 leads on the road - both figures the joint worst in the division.
- Newport's 32 shots on target is the lowest total in League 2. They have faced 62 shots on target and the minus 30 difference is the worst shot difference in the division. They have also won the fewest corners (35) and have the worst corner difference (-34).
- Despite conceding 2 goals in each of their last 3 league games, the Gills have only conceded 9 goals in their 12 league games this season. Newport have conceded 14 goals in the first halves alone although it is 4 in 6 games since conceding 4 before the break against Swindon.
- Newport have conceded the joint highest number of goals (24) in League 2 with 19 conceded in the 8 games since their only clean sheet this season. They have let in 3 goals (twice) and 4 goals (twice) in those 8 games.

(19:45) Kick Off [ 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 ]
(19.55) Jayden Clarke fires in a shot which looks like it is going in only for a brilliant save to tip it around the post.
(20.01) Newport look to have run the ball out of play for a goal kick. The Rainham End shout in unison but County win a freekick and Max Clark gets a yellow card. They score from the set piece.
(20.02) GOAL! Gillingham 0-1 Newport County: Baker
(20.11) Brilliant touches by Wyllie to bring a long ball down and take out the defender who brings him down. Gills don't make enough of the free kick and Newport break. They have a shot identical to their goal, this time from open play, but the Gills block desperately.
(20.18) GOAL! Gillingham 0-2 Newport County: Hudlin
(20.28) Wyllie's excellent hold up work wins a free kick on the edge of the box. Dieng hits it into the wall.
(20.30) There will be 5 minutes added to the first half.
(20.35) Half time 0-2 [50:05]
The last time the Gills did not lose a home league match when 0-2 down at the break was the previous occasion - the 2-2 draw with Doncaster on the final day of last season. Before that, they lost the previous 9 scoring just 1 goal in those second halves.

(20.50) The second half kicks off.
(20.52) Jayden Clarke does excellent work inside the box to evade challenges. A second ball floated in by Hutton misses Nolan, just a few feet from the Rainham End goal, where any contact would have sent the ball into the net.
(20.54) A Gills corner flashes across goal and out for a throw. Somehow it misses everyone and, again, any touch would probably take it in.
(20.55) Jayden Clarke's fierce drive heading into the bottom right corner with the 'keeper beaten, is deflected away by a falling defender from only 4 yards out.
(21.02) Through ball for Wyllie into the box only has to slide it under the 'keeper who does brilliantly to deny him. Gills continue to press and Dieng heads wide from just a few yards out.
(21.09) Jayden Clarke gets goal-side of the defender who nudges him. Clarke tries to stay on his feet but eventually goes down and the ref deems it not worth a spot kick.
(21.13) The Gills currently are enjoying 69% possession and have 37 touches in the Newport box compared to just 7 for Newport in the Gills box. And yet County have scored from 2 of those 7.
(21.18) Jonny Williams has a shot stopped on the line instinctively by the 'keeper by his trailing hand after he was heading down in the opposite direction.
(21.26) Excellent play from Gbode. Constantly fouled and eventually wins a free kick at the third attempt in precisely the same location as Newport's opening goal. Gbode heads over.
(21.35) The 4th official signals for an additional 6 minutes.
(21.38) The ball in for the head of Jayden Clarke only needs to be on target and it would be a goal. Instead, he heads wide and the ball is kept in play before Jonny Williams blasts over (and does so again a minute later).
(21.41) FULL TIME 0-2 [101:22]
Possession: Gills 69%, Newport 31%. Shots at goal: Gills 25, Newport 4. Shots on Target: Gills 5, Newport 3. Corners: Gills 9, Newport 0. Touches inside the opposition box: Gills 55, Newport 7.
