Good win today, TEN TO GO, next up SARF END, and a different kettle of fish altogether, ( now thats clever, Sarf End ,seaside , kettle of fish) passing on, (yes and quickly) somehow I see a 1-1 draw written all over this game, although the Shrimpers can not seem to score at home, but they are getting themselves in position for a run at that 7th play off place, think this is going to be a tough one.
I guess today we could have had a couple more if Samuel had not been flat footed a couple of minutes after our first goal and their keeper missed the ball trying to punch it out and didn't Williams and Hessy Jnr both go close close in the second half ??
How come McGlashen does not play more, he seemed to be doing a good job out on the wing going forward ??

I was surprised when they gave the goal to Norris because from where I was it clearly looked as if the ball bounced off the crossbar onto the defender. That's what I commentated on and more often than not I get it wrong so was pleased for a change although it would have been great for Norris who I thought worked really hard. A goal and an assist would have been superb for him and he looked really disappointed!

I couldn't believe what I was hearing on Radio Kent on the drive home. Most fans view appeared to be we were poor but Crewe were worse! Really?! I thought we worked hard as a team and passed the ball about more. Playing 3-4-1-2 gave us an extra man in midfield and that helped a lot in my opinion as we have been chasing the ball a lot. It also protected Morris from being over worked on the right by not having a player in front of him when playing a narrow midfield. Norris, Dickenson and Williams worked their socks off for me and it was hard to rank any above any other, for me Norris was my MOM purely due to his tireless hassling that often won possession back. Loft had a good game and Hessenthaler when he came on produced some sublime tackles. Poor performance? Never! We have played better and lost this season but this was hard graft, a great work ethic and with so many injuries and good solid performance.

The only downside for me was that List was injured before the game, El-Abd injured during it and apparently Loft went off on crutches! We didn't field a full bench yesterday and were already at bare bones so this is very worrying! We can't rely on youth players to get us promotion! The defence yesterday consisted of Morris, El-Abd and Ehmer with Dickenson and McGlashan as wing-back/wingers. Garmston came on and played right-back with Dickenson dropping back for a 4-4-2 with Williams on the left and that seemed OK so there are options. Just not many choice of players to put in it!!!

Two comments on this post, firstly the exhilaration you and your family must be experiencing after finding out Norris was your Mother, must be wonderful, congratulations, now if you can find out if the good woman was married when you were born then me and Mr. Lidbit won't call you a ba***rd any more, we promise.
Secondly who are we bringing in on loan any ideas , any rumors ?? We need players NOW, were third in the table, I think Burton and Wigan have the promotion spots claimed, we might not be in this position again for 10 years, Scally and Glasgow MUST act now,we MUST have players signed on loan before mid week , were to close to going up for them to do nothing. If Mr. Scally does NOTHING then I will believe that he is not serious about GFC and Championship football.

I knew when I wrote that that you would pick up on it! Jed has said he would look to the loan market but haven't heard any rumblings about who yet. With El-Abd and Egan both injured might he now, as originally promised try for Oshilaja? Fit midfielders appear to be Williams, McGlashan, Hessenthaler, Wright, Osadebe, Dickenson and Morris (if the latter 2 are not used in defence) so not much options and crucial to add someone there!

Announced an hour or so ago, Oshilaja does indeed return to the club.
