Gills beat Bromley 1-2 last night with goals from Ben Williamson, and Bradley Dack.Dack`s goal was a great goal! 3 wins out of 3 now for Gills in friendlies,as the Amiens game was not classed as an official friendly.

What was it classed as if not a pre-season friendly?

I think it was a training match, the club haven't put a report on the website let alone run twitter commentaries like the others. We've had a few of them before and the only thing we heard from it was a very brief sentence somewhere by the club. Often they end being matches where trialists play safe in the knowledge nobody knows about them!

It was basically like Gary says a training game.No match reports from anyone at the club, and no mention about it by Edinburgh.

Gills suffer a 1-2 defeat to Brighton.Dack put Gills ahead, but Brighton came back with two goals.Once Houghton went off injured we apparently looked a poorer side.

Seems all those tough games against Dover and The Plough and Checkers , Folkstone haven't done much to prepare us for the season to come, no worries I am sure it will all work out well in the end. My prediction for the first game of the season, Gillingham 1 -3 Sheffield Utd. and by five games in we will be sitting 3 off the bottom with a total of 4 points at best, and Hell I hope I am wrong.

4 points from 5 games seems to be at odds with your Noircat League predictions which say 2 draws & 3 losses ;-)

I live in hope, and this comment above was a throw out, coupled with the frustration I have for GFC and the owner. I hope we can pick up a home win in the first month of the season, but I am not convinced, it's the Noircat game I am playing, not re writing the 10 commandments, you obviously take it far more seriously than I do.
I just don't get why we play these games against teams like Folkstone, I watched the video someone posted, what was there 50 people in the stands and a metal fence four feet behind the goal, not asking for an injury playing there are we??
How are we NOT beating these teams 10-0, I know we have split squads etc, but hell we haven't scored more than a hand full of goals in all the "pre- season games" together and I find that kind of worrying ?
I know there "not real games" , (call them what you like ), but I feel one of GFC 's failings over the years is we get off to a slow start and then have to play catch up, and it just doesn't happen.
To make any sort of run for promotion we need to score 70 + goals and I don't see where there coming from, so I see another season of mid table football, I sure do hope I am wrong.

We play Folkestone for two reasons; to improve our spelling of English seaside towns and to celebrate the fact that I was born there. The other interesting feature of that auspicious day was that the tide came in, then went out again...twice.

The Brighton match wasn't a bad game. Everything I've read since confirmed the first half was good. Norris was lively but should have converted a couple of chances and I really hope he doesn't waste his chance again this season. Dickenson was my man of the match, he was tearing them to shreds and was much less frustrating than he was last season which I hope is a sign of things to come rather than simply because he was playing against his former club. Dack was dangerous, the guy from Cardiff looked useful (why is he wearing 50 this season) and it was good to see McGlashan play who I feared would fall foul of the system. Instead he linked up very well with Jackson and they both have tons of pace that bodes well for the future.

One funny point was that when Osadebe came on he not only looked like Linganzi but was wearing his number AND is stick thin like him also. However he won everything, even when losing it between 2 opposition players. He looks like he can do a job for us now. It looked at the start as if we would play 3-4-1-2 with McGlashan and Dickenson as wing-backs and Jackson, Egan and Oshilada as centre-halves but this quickly became 4-2-3-1 with Houghton and Morris in the holding roles. This allowed Dack to sit behind the strikers although it left Norris on his own with his strike "partner" Ben Williamson out on the wing.

You can't judge much. I'm sure Dickenson won't play left back ahead of Garmston and I'm sure Williamson won't be tucked out there ahead of Dickenson either. We were missing a natural poacher last night which, I am certain, would have added a couple of goals but Cody was unavailable. For me it was lost in amongst a whole host of substitutions. Brighton made all of theirs and even brought on players not on the team sheet. It got disjointed and they scored a couple of soft goals that perhaps might not have done had players been firmer in challenges. Although Brighton had the best chance glancing a shot off the face of the bar, the Gills had the best of the play and had 4 very good opportunities before they went 1-up. A good work out, stretched a side in a higher division and even more satisfying a good crowd for a friendly too.
