yes, what a shame they had slightly more talent than we did, however, on the night we got paid more than Bowie. Funny how things turn out.

I reckon your gig at Southend was on the 7th, 8th, or 9th April 1966 Rimshot. Going through my archives, these are the only dates that the Lower Third played where it is listed as 'unknown venue' and I can't find a date for Southend. He was on a tour of southern seaside towns at the time so by process of elimination I think it was one of these days. Given that he only played as David Jones and the Lower Third for seven months (between Manish Boys and changing his name to Bowie) it seems the most likely dates.

Yes I know I'm sad!

Pat's got a brand new pigbag on 12". Went to Barnaby once to but "White Horse" I can't remember who by now. Spent my Saturdays in K-two in the pentagon.

Oh dear, have to confess my first single was 'Love grows where my Rosemary goes' and yes, I still have it! Edison Lighthouse, 1970. I went on to book them at Uni when I was Student Union president 10 years later and remember feeling quite starstruck!! First album was 'Relics', Pink Floyd; I remember giggling insanely with a friend after an illicit can of larger to the lyrics of 'Arnold Lane'!

I saw Edison Lighthouse (the original guitarist - there's three versions about nowadays apparently) last year in Cornwall. Had a few beers with them (I'm so rock and roll!).

First single I bough was when I was too young to know better - Mother of Mine by Neil Reid. First "proper" record was Mud Rock...
