Gillingham v Walsall- Match Thread

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Thu Sep 18, 2014 11:02 am

The second of two home games this week.We had a great result on Tuesday when we beat a good Peterborough side here, and we now play Walsall who have struggled a bit so far. They come into the game off of a 4-0 thrashing at Rochdale.Hopefully we can play as well as we did on Tuesday and get another three points.Priestfield has been a mini fortress so far,and it would be good if we can keep that going.

What Team would you play?

Either Gavin Hoyte or Aaron Morris will start at right back tomorrow, Aaron Morris played really well at right back against Peterborough United and I think he will get the nod to start at right back again tomorrow.

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

------------------------------Bywater-------------------------------------
A.Morris------------Egan----------------Hause--------------------Martin
-----------------Hessenthaler------------Loft-----------------------------
McGlashan-----------------------------------------------------------Dack
------------------McDonald--------------Norris---------------------------

Subs: G.Morris (GK), Hoyte, Davies, Linganzi, Pritchard, Dickenson, German

I think Gillingham will name the same eleven that started the match against Peterborough United on Tuesday Night, that means no place in the starting eleven for Gavin Hoyte because I thought Aaron Morris did a excellent job at right back, Doug Loft played a lot longer then I thought he was going to play on his comeback appearance and he should be fit enough to start again tomorrow, although I am sure that either Josh Pritchard or Amine Linganzi will come on for Doug Loft at some point in the second half.

There is no place for Matt Fish or Leon Legge in the eighteen man squad and with Adam Barrett out on loan and potentially these two not going to be included in the squad tomorow (although we will find out when the team-sheets are announced), Peter Taylor has made a lot of changes to the defence and I don't think he was satisfied with the defensive options he has available to him, Gavin Hoyte and Kortney Hause being signed on a short term basis until January has plugs a few gaps in the squad and it will be interesting to see what changes happens to our defence over the next few weeks and months.

Luke Norris has impressed in his sub appearances away at Coventry City and Oldham Athletic but was hit and miss on Tuesday Night, hopefully with another start against Walsall tomorrow we will see a much better performance from Luke Norris as a run in the team would be good for his confidence.

After our win against Peterborough United on Tuesday Night we don't want to ruin that performance by slipping up against Walsall, back to back wins would be out-standing - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

agree with you FOM,I think we played really well against Peterborough and the players should keep their place.Hopefully we can put in a similar performance and get another win.

I only listened to the game, but i`m glad I was at the Peterborough game and not the Walsall game yesterday. It did sound like a boring game with very little chances.I am still pleased with our week though as I wanted us to get 4-6 points from the two games and stay unbeaten at home and we have.We have a few away games coming up now in all Competitions, and hopefully we can nick a win or two from them.

Gillingham are still unbeaten at home, we got a point on Saturday and kept a clean sheet and that pretty much is it as far as positives go, it is also a good sign that Gillingham can play poorly against Oldham Athletic and Walsall and still get points on the board and had anyone offered us four points before these two home games then we would of defiantly taken that (although before these two games I thought Gillingham might have got the four points the other way around and win on Saturday against Walsall and beat Peterborough United on Tuesday Night).

Not a great match to watch at The Weekend and Walsall created the better goal-scoring opportunities and I just felt that the pace, the tempo, the movement, the intensity, the quality and the atmosphere inside Priestfield Stadium was flat on Saturday, it almost felt like that the players had emotionally, physically and mentally drained themselves after a fantastic performance and result against Peterborough United on Tuesday Night, you could probably include the supporters into that as well because if you compared the atmosphere in our 0-0 draw with Walsall to the atmosphere around the ground for our 2-1 win against Peterborough United on Tuesday Night, there is a big big difference between the two matches.

Our last three results against Walsall have been draws, 2-2 at Priestfield Stadium last season, 1-1 at The Bescot and 0-0 on Saturday, so does that mean we will draw -1 - -1 at The Bescot in January :D

If young Ms. Fanny Mulligan doesn't and she needs a job she sure as hell should apply for one there, although when she would have time to do any work kind of stumps me, lol. Just joking Ms. Mulligan love all your work, and I mean all of it, all being the operative word, lol.
