When we faced a very tricky tie at Sheffield Utd they were top of the league with 10 wins in 11 home games and had conceded 4 goals. We then travelled to Bradford who hadn't lost at home for 22 league games and had conceded just 11 goals in them yet both games saw us score twice and prevent them from taking all 3 points. The two games have been very encouraging and I don't think we deserved to take only the draw against Shrewsbury. There are some big games ahead, 4 out of the next 5 all at home, that will define where we are heading under Pennock:
Port Vale (H) - 1 win in 11 in the league and just 1 win away all season. 5 of their last 7 on the road in the league have ended in defeat (the other 2 were drawn).
Chesterfield (H) - Just 1 goal scored in 7 league games and just 1 win away all season. 9 of their last 10 on the road in the league have ended in defeat (the other was a win).
Coventry (A) - No goals scored in any of their last 4 games in the league. 11 of their last 13 in the league have ended in defeat (the other 2 were drawn).
AFC Wimbledon (H) - 3 wins in 13 in the league but none in 7 away from home. They failed to score in any of those last 7 away games in the league.
Southend (H) - Unbeaten in 7 away and with only 1 defeat in 17 in the league.
Swindon (A) - 1 win in 10 in the league.
Bury (A) - 1 win in 20 in the league with 7 defeats from their last 9 home league games.
After that......4 very difficult fixtures on paper (Scunthorpe, Bolton and Peterborough at home, Rochdale away)! We need to buck the trend we normally follow and win the "easy" games and carry some form into the "hard" ones!
