I think you are right. We shouldn't aim for 51 though, set a target for 55 at least to ensure we are comfortably safe instead of enduring yet another last minute panic to see if we are safe or not. After all no-one thought we could get relegated the last time we were in this league yet somehow we did.
The last time a side was relegated from this division on the 50 point plus mark was us! 50 or 51 (and a 48 on one rare occasion) have seen the side 5th from bottom stay up. Looking at the 10 match current form table and adding those points to the ones the sides at the bottom have currently and all bar the bottom three could earn enough points to have survived in recent League 1 campaigns. As 6 of the 11 points Crewe acquired from their last 10 games have come from the last 4, an extra win would also see them earn enough points.
So yes I think a 51-52 point mark should just about do it but as just 5 points separate the bottom side with the last team that is safe, any of these sides can earn enough points to secure survival at the same rate they are going currently, they will too so we must aim for more!
