Oh dear; you are proving how predicting anything to do with gills matches is impossible! If Norris had scored the pen I think we would have won but he didn't so we didn't. Massive loss tonight which I'm afraid could completely derail us. It is going to be really hard to bounce back on Saturday.

Yep. If the rest of the results go the way of the table it has us in 4th. Walsall would take 2nd. Of course if we win all our games it would look very different as I still have us dropping another 4 points but we need to start creating otherwise we stand no chance. We are playing sides with virtually nothing to play for so these are the most winnable games at this stage of the season, more so than sides at the very bottom (even relegated ones as they have pride to play for).

Port Vale have no chance. Sides above them only need 3 points between now and the end of the season to rule them out of the playoffs so they are NEVER going to get there!
Rochdale have a tricky game against Blackpool Saturday. If they lose that and the Gills beat PV then the gap is at least 10 points with 12 to play for.
Shrewsbury will still likely be in a relegation battle so won't be easy however their away form of late has been awful.

Win one of those drawn games and the rest stay the way I have it (it won't but this is just for demonstration purposes) then we will be on the same number of points as Walsall. How crucial that goal from Norris could be!!!! Our goal difference before he scored was +19 and Walsall's was +18. Even though we lost it is now +20 and +17, how great for his critics if that stoppage time goal helped secure promotion! On last night's evidence we are a long way short but its still more than possible.

I seem to be better at predicting Millwall results than the Gills! Although this was to demonstrate to those that said automatics would be beyond us (and it is now) I will continue this topic until the end of the season for interest. Even more annoyingly is that currently only Bradford and Walsall have gained more points than I thought they would (both +2) with all others dropping points! I had us in 2nd place so that would have been even more safer still! I still have the Gills finishing 6th so gaining an extra 2 points against Rochdale tomorrow night (I predicted a draw) will go a long way to ensuring we at least get a home tie in the second leg of the play offs!

Ok this is getting really annoying now! It seems I wasn't being overly optimistic but was more than feasible to catch Burton in 2nd but we have well and truly thrown it away! Only Bradford have gained points from my predictions and had we beaten Port Vale on Saturday, we could have been aiming for 2nd just 3 points behind Burton! (Of course were we to lose that tie then the figure would become 9)!

Should have put a blooming accumulator on the Millwall run in!

Unsurprisingly have the Gills missing out now with current predictions even with a win against Burton but a win against Millwall would gain two. 10 points dropped from the Gills and it would be a comfortable 3rd place. Burton were dropping like a stone but have picked up 2 extra points that now looks to have them taking second after all. What fine margins this season is based on!

Whilst I think your table makes for wonderful reading, in fact I print the latest table each time it comes out, were really short of toilet paper since these tree hugging nut cases decided to picket the Forestry Service to stop them cutting down trees. I told you five or six games ago we would be lucky to pick up 10 or 11 points from the remaining games we had, but I never in my wildest dreams thought we could play this bad week after week when we were sitting in a play off spot.
I guess this is the players way of making sure they have work for next season, if we had gone up half of them would have been traded away to Carlise or Crewe or somewhere, now most of them have a job at Gillingham next year, and I am sure Scally won't let Glasgow spend much money during the summer (if he is still here and she should't be) but thats another conversation for a later day, like 20 minutes after the final game of the season, when his butt should be sent packing,
Very very sad second half of the season , I am still trying to figure out what happened after the Colchester game , didn't Scally give these guys Christmas presents so they have been sulking ever since ??

It happens so often though! Sadly teams like Orient, Tranmere, Yeovil etc all flirted (or succeeded) in going up only to fall away then end up relegated. I thought it would be Burton, then Walsall, then Burton again but sadly it ended up looking like Coventry and (against the odds) us!
