New Stadium

Postby gillsfan1066 » Mon Mar 27, 2017 10:48 am

Here we go again, yak, yak, yak about a new stadium, and the Gills are calling for supporters, partners, Medway residents, and football fans across the country to back our plans to build a new state of the art stadium, WWWOOOWW HHHOOO.
Firstly how many teams in the fourth division where we could be next year need a state of the art stadium, and secondly who are these fans " across the country " that give two hoots about GFC, maybe the fans up there in Doncaster will organise a bake sale and send the money to Scally to help build the new facility ??

But this time its going to happen; honest! I'm growing the grass in my back garden as we speak and Mrs L is knitting the backs for the chairs. She's done three; only 24,997 to go! And obviously, once we have our new stadium, the fans will come flocking to see Gills turning out in the Conference with Gary in goal and Mrs L as manager; that's a given!

Oh, by the way; who wants a ten year season ticket, bargain price for the first 20000 fans of £10000; cash only, in a brown bag, sent to Lidbid, c/o Gary, the Press Box, GFC.

WHAT?!?!?! Me in goal? Have you seen how tall (or not more to the point) I am!!!!

This time the Chairman is right. The way the council's local plan is works is to allocate "sustainable" plots of land for development. It actually has 2 key roles: firstly to secure the land in order to deliver the increase in housing stock required by central government. Secondly, it effectively allows the council to block ad hoc planning applications for plots of land willy nilly so is more able to protect green belt and rural locations. Mill Hill IS allocated for use as a sports stadium with the expected occupants being Gillingham FC. If (when to be more accurate) the plan gets adopted, the land WILL almost certainly be given permission for a stadium providing it adheres to the original plan.

Of course, with the plan likely to be adopted shortly, the proof will be what happens after that. If it is passed and we still don't submit a planning application that will be the telling issue. For now, Scally has been prudent in waiting for the plan to be adopted to avoid putting in an application only to see it refused and as no other sites have been able to be sought, this is the only real option.

Nothing wrong with Dudley. I was there from 1976-79 teacher training. The zoo is awesome with the castle in its grounds and the pubs were great! Don't really remember much else!
