- The Gills lead the wins over Chesterfield 31 to 23 and just 17 of the 71 meetings have been drawn. The Gills are unbeaten in 3 games against Chesterfield since the hosts last win (coming at Priestfield in February 2016).
- The Gills last travelled to Chesterfield in September 2016 - 2 late goals including a brace of penalties by Emmanuel-Thomas and a last minute Wagstaff goal earning a 3-3 draw. It made it successive visits scoring 3 goals (the other a 3-1 win) since their last defeat there in March 2015.
- The Gills have enjoyed successful trips to Chesterfield recently. Since they last lost on successive visits (Dec 93 and Feb 95), they have only lost 3 of the 12 away games and won 4. The last 5 trips have seen 2 wins each but 4 Gills wins and 2 defeats from the last 7.
- Following a 0-3 home defeat by Accrington at the start of November, Chesterfield went on a 5 game home winning run in all competitions which ended with a 1-2 loss at home to MK Dons in their most recent match.
- Both Chesterfield and the Gills have lost their 3 festive matches - both losing 2 away before losing a home New Year game and both conceding 6 goals in the process. For Chesterfield, these followed 3 successive wins whilst the Gills followed 2 wins and a draw.
- Chesterfield's defeat at Priestfield back in August was 1 of only 3 losses in their opening 18 league and cup games. Since then, they have lost 7 of their last 13 in all competitions including their 3 festive matches (as have the Gills).
- Chesterfield have been behind away from home for 376 minutes - ana average of 47.0 minutes per deficit. At home, they have been behind for 235 - also an average of 47.0 minutes per deficit and the longest period of time behind per home deficit in League 2.
- Chesterfield have won 324 fouls in League 2, the most in the division. It helped them earn the best foul difference in the league with 85 more fouls won than conceded.
