Sam Vokes; what do we think? He obviously knows how to score goals and could be just what we need. I’ll vote yes!!

Obviously you don’t think much about him then!! Surely Gillsfan must have an opinion, or is he hibernating until the season starts again?!

Thirty Five years old , played in seven games and scored two goals last season, often injured, looks to me like the old boy network in action ,our manager giving an old pal a years pay , before he rides off into the sunset . Lets hope I am wrong, and he scores a dozen for us. Not that happy bringing him in and keeping the oft injured Dack, who I am guessing took a pay cut from the what was it 4k a week he was making last year.
Little bit disappointed we have not opened the Check book and bought in two 12 or more goals a season players, at the moment I think were looking at this upcoming season resembling last , lots of 1-1 draws, and no where near the 50 to 60 goals were going to need to get into the playoffs.

I wonder if he is planning to play 1 up front with Dack and Williams behind or a front 2? Where Nevitt et al fits in I'm not really sure as I cannot see he came here to simply play the last 10 minutes of matches.

It doesn't matter if they play one or two up front, to win this division you need to have four goalscorers ,two that start the games and two that come on at the 60 minute mark. We have clueless owners that are making millions buying up property in LA (Los Angeles) that was burnt to the ground last year, they care as much about Gillingham Football Club as they do about the Man in the Moon.
You poor sods buy tickets because there the only club in Kent,so you feel loyal to them. Please Gods of the Lottery let me win it this weekend and let me buy the Gills,I swear I will put 50 Million pounds or Euros or what ever else our weak Governments have made you use instead of pounds, into bringing in players and we will do a Wrexham, get back into the Championship, then even if we spend just ONE STINKING SEASON in the Premier Division ,I will die a happy man.
How could our owners let Bromley , F **ing BROMLEY come into the league and not only beat us on the pitch, but finish higher than Gillingham FC in the FOURTH DIVISION. I will tell you how, and if you have already left BUY, the reason is they don't give a flying f*** about Gillingham FC ,they had never ever heard of the team or the place, probably not even the county until that slimy piece of s*** that used to own the club sold them a pig in a poke, sold them a team that was on the way up to the Premier Division. GUYS he said , you will be on the TV every weekend playing teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Spurs, Arsenal and what did our new owners say......WHERE DO WE SIGN.
I bet they don't know we beat Chesterfield 10-0 in 87 no not 1887 when Auzzie was at the games,it was 1987 . They sure as hell don't know what it was like in September 1966 when we thumbed Bury 3-1 in the Cup and we had the flood lights turned on (typical Gills last but three teams in the whole four league to have flood lights) and we ran all the way from Priestfield through Gillingham High Street ( when it was a HIGH STREET, not a s**t pit ), telling everyone the Gills had won whether they wanted to know or not.
I should not drink, it makes me sad that anyone who knows f*** all about football can buy a team ,just so they can boast that THAT OWN AN ENGLISH SOCCER TEAM at cocktail parties in Miami , LA,or New York City ,and when there asked which team they say ,oh just a small team in lowest division , called ,whats it called Sharon ,oh yes, Gillingham, Then they say when we get the time were going to emulate Renolds and Rob McElhenney at that whats it names team and put some money into the club . There is over a MILLION AND A HALF PEOPLE LIVING IN KENT ,NO ONE IS MORE THAN AN HOUR AND A FEW MINUTES AWAY FROM THE GROUND,so when we feel like it and we get into the Championship we will probably have to build a new stadium, but I might just kick back for a while and see if I can sell the team when were half way good,I really am not that interested in this soccer stuff.

You clearly had been drinking old boy , as the floodlights were turned on for the Bury cup game three years earlier in September 1963 , not September 1966 :D

I was about 12 years old, that night when I watched the Gills play under flood lights for the first time, please forgive me for getting the date wrong it was a long time ago and 1966 tends to stick in ones mind a little more than 1963 after all the Battle of Hastings was pretty big deal that year.

To think I started watching the Gills in 1956. I think I'm a slow learner. I remember watching Jimmy Boswell and Charlie Marks and used to kick a ball around with Ernie Morgan on Eastcourt estate. He was limping badly by then but still showed us kids he could kick a ball OK.
