Gillingham manager Gareth Ainsworth has set a challenge for weekend goalscorer Bradley Dack.

The 31-year-old is back playing regularly for the Gills following his return last summer, and his goal against Crawley Town on Saturday showed his quality.

With four goals, Dack is now Gillingham’s leading goalscorer this season and Ainsworth is confident the player can get a lot more now he’s getting regular game time.

“I'm hoping Bradley gets double figures this year,” said the Gills boss.

“I think that's where he was when he was at Blackburn and things were flying.

“He's had to adjust his game a little bit, we've had to adjust his game a little bit, but he's also now added this leadership to his game.

“There's players that he's played with at the top level that probably pass the ball better, or find him better, and sometimes they don't at this level, and it's about him then accepting that and thinking about, ‘How can I help the team?’”

Ainsworth’s delighted he’s making an impact on the pitch again but also sees coaching qualities in him too.

He said: “I definitely see him staying in the game in the future in the capacity of coaching because he loves the game and knows the game but at the moment he's flying with his playing.

“He’s top scorer now, and he's definitely in my plans going forward to keep playing, because his quality is something that many teams don't have in League 2.”
