Transfer List

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Wed Oct 02, 2013 7:46 pm

Allen has decided to take Lee,Whelpdale, and Gregory off of the Transfer list. Was it just for a kick up the backside,or did he feel he made a wrong decision putting them on there in the first place?

I do not go with this kick up the backside view as he had sold Lee to southend at the start of the season for £0.00 but Southend could not afford his wages and so he turned them down.

Hardly a kick up the backside, if sarfend had paid we wouldnt have a player who has probably won the most mom's for us so far this season

I don't believe it was either. I suspect there is something between the manager and the chairman and he chose those to prove a point, maybe possibly getting Gregory wrong but German clearly not required. Whelps and Lee were not only big earners but key players and I feel it was meant as a wake up call when told we had to ship out first. Lee certainly has been outstanding and I'm told Gregory had a superb game at Crewe but it does feel like the blackmail didn't work so it's case of putting up with what we have got - if that isn't sufficient then the manager got the wrong players in the summer!

The weekend showed that if the tactics were right and the players were behind the manager they are capable of a decent season which still leads me to think that all hasn't been well since the summer, something the manager appears to hint at in his latest press release. Talking about player morale he said that "the spirit and unity within the group is most definitely getting better and back to its best". Quite why it would have changed so greatly is a mystery.

Now this may be one of those 'gossip' and completely false rumors but; my son and his friends were out in Maidstone late last Friday, before the Crewe game when they met Leon Legge in the street. My son said hello and then moved on, but his friend started talking to Legge. He apparently asked him if we would be OK this season, and was rather astonished by the reply. "Not with that f********** in charge' was that reply, which may have been a comment on Legge being dropped, an indication that all is not well, or maybe just my son's friend hearing what was not actually said! Who knows, but if that is really what he said to two supporters in the street, it doesn't bode too well!!

Is this the same Leon Legge that followed the "f**********" from his last club to be with us ?? :?

Sorry lidbid I think your post is irresponsible . Having admitted it is just gossip what possible value does it have? From Legge's perspective it can only create friction and I don't doubt that forum chat does get back to the dressing room.

Little on its own Rimshot but there seems to be lots of people with similar anecdotes from other players. Martin Allen even eluded to it in his press conference saying the player's team spirit was improving, players that should have started the season on the highest of all highs!

...but that's just a general comment, not a specific quote attributed to a player.

Seems a little more justified now I think! And not really gossip I suppose seeing as it was my son who was there with his best friend who have both been Gills fans since they were children.
