MARTIN ALLEN SACKED!!

Postby Garawa » Sun Oct 13, 2013 5:01 pm

Bit of a shock but it has sounded like it was on the cards but the club have announced in the last few minutes his contract has been terminated. As Peter Taylor has been at the ground a fair bit, I think that particular rumour has become a nigh-on certainty!!!

Something was wrong, seriously wrong. You only had to watch his video on youtube. I thank MA great season last season but the guy is FRUIT AND NUT.

There are so many issues with players, some of the issues I know about and I think he had to go personally.

Thank you MA the king is dead long live the king

I was shocked when I read on Facebook that Allen had been sacked.Im obviously annoyed as Allen has given us the best season many of us have had supporting Gillingham.I never thought I would ever see us win a League Title, and Allen did that for the Club which was the first time in 50 years.I don't think it is solely down to results,as he may have been sacked before the two wins we just had,and our League position is not in the bottom four.Im sure there will be reasons given at some stage, but I am sad to see Allen go as he was a breath of fresh air compared to what we have seen before. He instantly got fans on side by inviting fans to training, making them welcome and take part,Martin`s Message etc.Thats why you will find the majority of fans feeling disappointed with the decision.I felt Allen deserved the full season here,as he earnt that by winning the League, and when you look at previous Managers who have achieved far less, they got a lot longer time. Results so far were not great, but we did have a really tough start, and we had just turned the corner really.

So I feel things behind the scenes must have not been good, and the decision has been taken to let Allen go.We don't know what happens behind closed doors, and we can only see from the outside. So as he treated us fans very well, and achieved a Championship winning season he will leave here a Legend.I wish him luck for the future, and thank him for last season`s memories.

I hope the New Manager continues what Allen started, where us fans were treated really well, and welcomed to Training.

That was one thing he was very good at though. He knew what he was like, he knew what supporters of his previous clubs thought of him and he also knew that he would fall out with Scally so he made sure he stayed on the right side of us. He was very clever at buying our favour and it worked. It didn't save him his job however and the way he had lost the support of the players meant he had to go and far better now than in January.

News reports suggest Peter Taylor will be unveiled this week. A massive change ready for a home double header - and all when the first round of the Noircat cup kicks off too! How exciting! Make sure you check out who you've drawn!

Peter Taylor fine, but I hear Hessy might be his number 2. If that is the case any player with flair or too much skill better get ready to leave. 10 players with a great work attitude and no flair.

Not surprised ,Scally sure as hell does not want to drop back into the 2nd division, and I think MA had lost this team, think he thought it would be nothing but a" t"ing to get into the top half after winning last year, seemed incapable of motivating the team this year.
Were one point off of the relegation zone after a quarter of the season, and teams below us have games in hand, not a pretty picture which ever way you look at it.
Peter Taylor, now where have I heard that name before, was under the impression he had died in the early 90's, so I guess it must be a different Peter Taylor ?
Surely not the Peter Taylor who never spends more than a year at any of the 12 clubs he has managed since the early 2000's ?
Wonder who our manager will be next year. Still I guess we should be worrying about this year for now, you never know he might save us and stay for an extra few months, maybe even till Christmas next year, then Hessy can take over.
Thanks Mr. Allen you did a fantastic job of bringing us out of the basement, best of luck for the future.

It's not a new manager we need, it's a new owner.

I don't care who the new man is, as long as he can keep us in this division for now, before propelling us upwards. Mind you, I agree with Rimshot in as much as a change of ownership might be helpful.

Scally says in this interview that he got on well with Martin, but basically the football we played wasn't good enough, and he has not been in touch with anyone about the job,and Jon Schofield will be in charge Saturday

I have thought about Allen`s sacking a lot today, and after thinking about it,it may have been for the best of the Club.Allen did a fantastic Job last season, and gave us the best season supporting Gills, but if the dressing room was indeed lost, then Scally had no choice but to make The change. Results on the field were not great, and I did feel Allen deserved the whole season to turn it around for what he achieved recently. But if you don't have a Happy Dressing room, then you have to act and make a change.Whatever has happened Allen will always be remembered by the Fans.Emotions were running high last night as Allen did a great job in his 16 months, and it was a surprise that he had been sacked. The Club is the most important thing, and we now have to back the new man whoever he is.

I am really grateful for what MA has done. However I do not go along with this theory he gave us long term fans our best season ever.

Yes we won a title for the first time in 50 years. Fact. Yes we hardly lost a game Fact. However, after the Oxford United game away from home last year I thought most of our performances were torture to watch. So many of the games lacked quality, or excitement. He was great with the fans and knew how to get them involved, but seriously watch his interview on youtube would you want him managing you?

My favourite years as a Gill's fan, are the FA cup quarter final, the beating Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday and going into the championship seasons.

If you were interviewing managers would you take the manager who had won a title taking a div 2 team into div 1 with a team that had one of the best budgets, or a manager who took a team into the Championship via the play offs.

I do not think whoever we get in charge can make too much of a difference. This is a top division compared to previous years. There are clubs here who have a bit of money and a bit of quality.
We would be even lower in the league if it wasnt for Coventrys 10 point deduction.

As gill's fans we will continue to support the club regardless of whoever is in charge. Great title last season, lets just hope we can stay up this season.

I do agree with Rimshot in so much as we will not do anything other than bounce between the bottom 2 divisions as every time we get promoted to div 1 we fail to make the neccessary investment to cement our place. That is the owners job. Thing is every team wants investment and to get promoted but only 3 teams can do it.

Two things I don't agree with Rob. Firstly we wouldn't be lower as Coventry are higher than us now and the new guy would make a difference if he reunites the dressing room as the Crewe game suggested when the players are united they are more than capable.

Scally has stated that the dressing room was bad, he cannot allow that to continue and didn't. Whether Peter Taylor is the right man only time will tell but I think results will improve purely with key players being happy he has gone. I normally like to give managers longer and any other manager I would have disagreed with the decision but so much had gone wrong so quickly that it had to be rectified sooner rather than when too late to change it.

Hi Gary,

sorry mate, last time I looked Coventry were below us. I didnt want to look at the table after shrewsbury.

I hope the new manager can cement the dressing room. I can barely face the thought of div 2 again. That said I will always be there
