Coventry (H)

The second of two straight home games in a few days.We come into this game off the back of a 1-0 win against Crawley. We were probably fortunate to win the game 1-0,with Crawley being wasteful infront of goal.We were due a bit of luck though after losing three games in a row,and deserving more.Coventry lost 2-1 at Colchester on Saturday, and have only won once in the League in eight games.I said I would be happy with 4-6 points from these two home games,so hopefully we can atleast get a draw.I think if we play well then we can get the win and move closer to safety.

Our history with Coventry, the fact that they one of the highest scorers and conceders in the league and that both sides have scored and conceded DOUBLE the average amount of last 10 minute goals suggests this could be a big score! Watch it end 0-0 now!

One nil up against a 10 man Coventry team, and every one else that matters except the mighty Bristol City team losing, think I can go to my 3.30 meeting with confidence of a win for the Big Dark Blue Machine , Go Gills score another and lets get this game in the bag before half time.

I listened to the game, and it was entertaining to listen too,so It must have been great to have been there.4 Penaltys,2 each,a sending off,and a great strike from about 40 yards from Hessenthaler, people got their moneys worth.Even with 10 men Gillsplayer were saying Coventry were not playing like they had ten men,but we deserved the win. After losing 3 games in a row,and to then win two home games in a few days makes me feel a lot better about staying up.I said I would be happy with 4-6 points, and we got the maximum.Things are looking up,and we probably only need 2 wins, and 2 draws to stay up now.

I have just seen Hessy`s goal, and what a goal it was.Not a bad way to score your first professional goal in Football.

It was a crazy match, couldn't keep up in the second half. All the stats suggested it was going to be a big score but in reality it owed more to their woeful defending than anything else. Even at the end their keeper came halfway down the pitch just to head the ball away leading to Hessy's wonder strike. And we all thought Cody had the goal of the season wrapped up!

It was a bizarre game. They passed the ball about a lot more but we had the best chances. What it had been without the 4 penalties who knows. I can't see what our second penalty was given for, the challenge on Cody didn't affect him at all as he still got the cross in and Bayo missed his chance under no pressure at all. The sending off was strange as well. The penalty was given instantly but then loads of confusion and arguing ensued before the ref decided a red should be shown. In all it added well over a minute for the penalty to be taken so massive credit must be given to Bayo.

In the second half they were in control and deserved to be level and it was us that looked like we had 10 men. But their issues this season have been conceding goals and against Crawley we completely failed to take ours so that was the difference. As for Hessy WHAT A GOAL! Fully deserved and I hope it gives him the confidence to push on. That said I expect him to be dropped against Bradford as I think Peter Taylor will try to keep his feet on the ground a bit. Great game against good players and it shows we are a League 1 side worthy of being in the division, we just need to be a bit more consistent.
