End of Season

Wouldnt it be really nice if just for once gillingham got organised at the end of the season.

If we are going to keep Peter Taylor, lets do it now and then Taylor and the chairman chase transfer targets and get rid of those we dont want.

Every year at the end of the season Scally clears off on a holiday (which seems a bit of a joke when he lives abroad). Every year we watch all the
best free transfers disappear and come and go and we have zero activity because only Mr Scally can make the decisions.

How about signing up the players we want to keep, getting rid of those we do not. Working hard now to get the players we want for next year so maybe just maybe,
we might get a full pre season out of the team so we can hit the start of the season running.

I do not expect miracles from my club, but it would be nice to be organised for once.

Also Mr Scally mentioned several months ago he was actively seeking new investors. Any news? It is all ok keeping sounding off about how we want to challenge next year every time our Season Tickets are up for renewal, but seriously we have no chance of challenging unless we get investment. If we are not seeking it then fine at least we know. It just seems offensive that we are treated like thick dirt bags every year with the old I mean it this time buy your ST we are seriously going for promotion this time.

We have always been far too reactive in this. It seems to me we always end up with whoever was left over or pay out a bit more than what we hoped because we needed to. For any players that are no longer required (and after the embarrassing saga of the hokey cokey of putting players on-off-on-off the transfer list) we owe them the decency of doing it as soon as possible so they can secure their future.

I think everyone suspected Taylor was the "chosen one" from the start and by achieving his objective there is little point dragging this on. We have a new system to adopt and new players to blood in, every day earlier we can do it then we can really start the season off with a bang, especially if other sides have players still to return from international duty (not many but probably a few I bet). August can go a long way to securing our League 1 future for the following season and a few extra wins and a repeat of this season under Taylor would leave us around 10th or so. Go on a bit of a run if the season worked and play-offs won't be out of the question.

I would rather make them when not expressing to do so then state we are aiming for them then end up short. However we like to look at ourselves, we are NOT in the top 6 best sides in the league but could mount a challenge if the pressure was off.

I was expecting to hear that Taylor has had his contract extended early this week with us being safe,but we have heard nothing yet.I find it strange that safety has been secured,but we`re not taking advantage of the extra time to get Contracts on the table.I do hope it is sorted shortly,and we don't have to wait weeks for Contract offers to be announced.

I wonder if the delay in securing Taylor for next season means Scally is casting around for a replacement. I can't say I'm bothered either way, I gave up being excited about Gills' managerial appointments years ago, around about the time Keith Burkinshaw decided he could do no more with players with no talent. It's only when the team has played a lot of games that we can judge the quality of the manager. One thing I will say about Taylor is, I think he works better with younger pros, but whether he can attract some good ones released by cubs higher up remains to be seen.
