Friendlies

Postby Garawa » Sat Aug 02, 2014 6:06 pm

Not sure we have gleaned very much from the friendlies. Perhaps German looks more capable than we thought last season and that Norris could well knock Cody down the pecking order. Other than that, I'm not sure we found out much else.

Hardly any players played the full 90 minutes despite Taylor saying he would and many matches saw split squads. The most recent match saw effectively 6 defenders play with 2 of them in midfield! I am not worried by this and look forward to the start but I hope Taylor got more information from all of this than anyone else!!!

I am surprised we never played near enough the side that will play at MK Dons next week. Also I was expecting the players to play the majority of the 90 today.I am hoping the players will be fit and raring to go next week.MK Dons is the start of the bread and butter stuff. It will be interesting to see who starts next week at MK Dons.German has impressed the most and Dickenson with their goals. It would have been nice to have ended pre-season with a good win,but next week is where it counts.

It wouldn't surprise me if PT wants to keep it all a surprise as even the players are keeping quiet (or don't yet know). With so many new players it will be hard for teams to try to counter our set up if nobody knows what it is and there is always a chance a late closed doors game might be arranged to try out the set up we plan to use. At least I hope that's the case otherwise we have bought in players to fit a particular system without knowing what the system actually is!

Just out of interest Manchester United played Real Madrid in a friendly today and 109,318 people paid between 30 and 118 pounds to see the game, with the average ticket costing 70 pounds so that's 109,318 x 70 pounds , and that equals 8 x7 carry the 1 and 1x3 good grief like over 7 thousand pounds, and they say we don't like soccer in the USA.
