What Everyone Say's about Gillingham

Postby fan_of_mulligan » Mon Aug 04, 2014 7:07 pm

The Football League Season starts this coming weekend and I am sure that there will be articles on The BBC and SKY Sports Websites with pundits predicting how each side is going to do during the 2014 / 2015 season, and it probably will be useful to have all of these articles in one thread so it is easier for everyone on Gills Discussion to find these articles and blogs.

http://wheretheparachutelands.co.uk/lea ... eague-one/ - I have just found a very interesting article which was posted on Twitter, (I don't know who wrote this article) but whoever wrote this has tipped Gillingham to have a much better season in 2014 / 2015 then we did last season.

That makes a change as we seem to be bookies favourites to go down most of the time!!!

It is nice to read a positive write up,as the bookies have us as one of the favourites to go down.

I want to tell everyone no one asked my Mom about the Gills so this article should be headed
What Everyone Say's about Gillingham, EXCEPT Gillsfan1066 's Mum Who Was Not Asked." thank you for letting me put the record straight.
The writer seems to think we have a good team ,and I think he might be right, wish we had a big man up front to push some of their guys around for corners and free kicks but I think we are going to be scoring more this year and that was what was really missing last year, I never felt comfy about scoring two or three in a game which lifts the pressure and gets rid of that minus 19 goal difference we had last year
Nice to see we might do better than last year, lol, it really would be difficult to see how we could do much worse, we finished 17 th and were worried about relegation till the last two games but i guess in the writers eyes 17th is a steady mid table position, phew had me sweating.
A good August with wins against Yeovil, Swindon and Crewe, and a point from either MKD and Barnsley and we could be off to a great start and I think a top 10 finish looks on the cards , maybe even a top ssshhhhhhhhhh 7 ???

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2717642/League-One-preview-Sheffield-United-looking-make-fourth-time-lucky-Leyton-Orient-aim-one-better.html

The Daily Mail is tipping Bristol City, Sheffield United, Preston North End, Peterborough United and MK Dons to be in and around the top six while Walsall, Crawley Town, Rochdale, Scunthorpe United and Chesterfield are all expected to struggle.

Gillingham are not mentioned in this article so I assume we're predicted to end around mid-table.

Again, Bristol City, Sheffield United, Preston North End, Peterborough United and MK Dons, while Leyton Orient and Barnsley are tipped as dark horses for promotion.

Sam Baldock, Britt Assombalonga, Romain Vincelot, Kevin Davies and Benik Afobe are tipped as the five players to watch out for in League One this season.

We're tipped to go down along with Colchester United, Crewe Alexandra and Rochdale in Don Goodman's predictions for the season, although he does tip AFC Wimbledon to go down and they spent big money signing Matt Tubbs and Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Peter Beagrie hasn't done any relegation predictions, but Gillingham are not in the top six for League One.

And Gillingham are predicted to do a lot better then 17th in this blog.

Very intriguing article, we seem to be pushing up the table without even kicking a ball!!

Surprised at Walsall, can't see them slipping. Barnsley could struggle in my eyes and everyone seems to fancy Crawley for the drop this season despite Gregory bringing virtually an entire new squad!!

Not sure how Peterboro will cope without Assombalonga. Losing him so close to the start will have been a massive blow and will surely scupper their playoff chances judging by how they ended last season.
