Barnsley v Gillingham- Match Thread

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Thu Aug 21, 2014 4:46 pm

Can we get a result at Oakwell? Barnsley have not won at home in three games in all competitions, but they do have a good squad. We have scored two goals in all four games we have played this season,so we do have goals in us.Hopefully Cody will be back on Saturday whether starting or on the bench. What Team would you play?

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

----------------------------Bywater-----------------------------------
Hoyte--------------Legge---------------Egan-------------------Hause
-----------A.Morris------Hessenthaler----------Pritchard--------------
Fish---------------------------------------------------------Dickenson
----------------------------Kedwell------------------------------------

Subs: G.Morris (GK), Hare, Davies, McGlashan, Dack, Norris, German

I am expecting Gillingham to line up with five in midfield against Barnsley tomorrow and Aaron Morris should be fit enough to play along side Jake Hessenthaler and Josh Pritchard (who will be making his full debut if selected), Gills changed to four at the back in the second half against Swindon Town and I think the back five will line up tomorrow the way we ended the game against Swindon Town.

There will be a few players who need patching up and I don't think Matt Fish or Jermaine McGlashan will be able to play the full ninety minutes, so I think Matt Fish will play as a right midfielder in the first half with Jermaine McGlashan coming on at half time, it's not ideal but we might well have to go with who is fit and available, better to start with Matt Fish and bring on Jermaine McGlashan then the other way around.

Barnsley have not got a great record at home and I am sure that Gillingham can go to Oakwell and get a result, I will be making the trip up to Barnsley tomorrow and let's hope we pick up all three points - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!! :D

Yeah I think we will go with five in Midfield, and I can see Kedwell upfront on his own again which has got him three goals so far.I would be very pleased with a point at a ground we do struggle at.

They spoke about home form being the key but they have lost their last 5 at home and 6 of their previous 7! Would be great if that continues!

I only listened today, but going from Gillsplayer we were really poor.4-1 could have been 7-1 with Barnsley hitting the post and Bywater making a few saves.I don`t remember hearing us force their keeper into a save in open play. The only joy was Kedwell scoring a rebound from his Penalty miss to make it 3-1,but shortly after Barnsley made it 4-1.We don`t have a great record at Barnsley, but it was disappointing for us to collapse again and concede four goals away from home.It was good that Cody came off the bench as we feared he would be out for months two weeks ago.

Newcastle up next, and we will have to defend really well to have any chance of pulling off a shock, and avoid a thrashing.
