Colchester v Gillingham- Match Thread (JPT)

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Mon Oct 06, 2014 2:29 pm

We Travel to Colchester for our second round JPT Match on Tuesday Night. Both sides are not in the best of form, both sides will feel this could be a good confidence boost for Saturday if they get a win.It would be nice to get a win and get through to the next round,as it is a good Competition for us lower League sides. We can only make 6 changes to the Team, and name 5 subs.

What Team would you play? I would name a positive side and go with two upfront. We seemed to play better at Notts County once Norris and Dack came on.Kortney Hause is on England U20 duty so will miss the game. This is a chance for Legge to stake a claim for the Shirt.

Three forwards, three attacking midfield and four defenders, to hell with it lets go down in a blaze of glory even if we lose 5-4, then we can concentrate on the League and FA CUP.

Great result in a cup that I don't quite understand, apart from 7,000 at Coventry the rest of the games seemed to have gates of 2000 or less, even the Dagenham, Orient game only had a small crowd, we had 1400 there, how does any team apart from the finalists make any money from these games??

A great result, and great that we fought back after going behind and we held our nerve once Colchester equalised to win on Penalty`s.I only listened to the game but it did sound an even game.I`m pleased German scored and hopefully that will strive him on to get more now.It was a great way for Nelson to come back in the side pulling off a few good saves, saving two penalty`s and then scoring the winning penalty.I think Taylor has a hard choice who to pick for Saturday.I know its not the most exciting Trophy around, but its good that we have made the area Quarter Final`s and if the draw is kind we could go further. The win should also give us confidence for Scunthorpe on Saturday which is an important game.

What a way to stake a first team claim again for Nelson! Funny how I read how he missed the coach after telling everyone about his exploits after, he didn't look all that excited after scoring!

Scunthorpe have sacked their manager so that game has suddenly got considerably harder!

No got easier now we win 3-1, Scunny players relaxing, just heard feom the fly on the wall who said he heard their caprain talking to the payers, seems the confersation went something like...... OK guys, who cares what happens this Saturday, new manager coming in, probably going to be some wanna be Premier Division manger who took some team down last time he was managing, and Jesus Christ have you guys seen where Gillingham is ???
Guys it's almost like Paris, Jesus who knew ??
OK so look guys lets go give it a shot, if they go 2-0 up in the first 45 minutes everyone fall back and lets try to stop them scoring any more.
BIG BIG win for GILLINGHAM FC this weekend, I have just bet the house, farm and wife on a 3-1 win.

Not only did Gillingham win on Tuesday Night but we won without any of the following players playing.... Stephen Bywater, Aaron Morris, Josh Pritchard, Doug Loft, John Egan, Kortney Hause, Luke Norris, Danny Kedwell and Cody McDonald, Peter Taylor has got the right sort of selection headache for tomorrow's match.

Gillingham and Colchester United Supporters shared the same stand on Tuesday Night with little segregation between the two sets of supporters, at least the chants between both sets of supporters was witty, with humour and friendly - I thought it was strange sharing the same facilities with Colchester United Fans and thankfully it didm;t kick off, only takes 1 - 2 idiots to cause trouble for everyone though,
