Christmas Fixtures

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Thu Dec 18, 2014 1:30 am

With the start of the Christmas Fixtures starting this week,I thought I would make a thread where we can guess where we will pick up points.

Fixtures:

Gillingham v Chesterfield- Saturday 20th December
Colchester v Gillingham- Friday 26th December
Gillingham v Bristol City- Sunday 28th December
Port Vale v Gillingham-Saturday 3rd January

I think we should be looking to get around 6-7 points from these four games, but knowing Gillingham we will lose a game we expect to win,and win a game we expect to lose.I think we have a good chance of beating Chesterfield as they have not pulled up any trees away from home, and we have a bit of confidence of late.Colchester are struggling a bit in the League, and if we perform then we can get at least a draw.Bristol City is the toughest game on paper of the four games, and they will be looking to get the three points. They pass the ball around so well, and we struggled to get near them at times,so it will be a tough ask to get a win.Port Vale are not bad at home, and I would take a point up there.I would hope we can get at least 6 points, and anything more 7-9 would be great.

The form for the first two is awful and, with a little spring in our step, we should be aiming at 6 points from the next 2 matches. But I agree, we will probably lose to Colchester (as always) and beat Bristol City!

Would it matter? 6 points from 3 games is the same no matter what? YES IT WOULD! Bristol City won't miss the 3 points as they would still look like winning the league but Colchester on the other hand could close the gap on us to 2 points as opposed to going 8 behind! We MUST stop allowing sides around us to pick up points that can drop us closer to danger when we lose a match!

Next two matches are matches I feel Gillingham need to win, Chesterfield won't be easy but there away form has been poor recently and it will be nice to see Gillingham win in-front of a big home attendance, and Colchester United are below us in the division and chances are Gillingham will take over 1,000 supporters to The Weston Homes Community Stadium and it will be nice to make it back to back away wins in the league.

Eight points from these four matches would be a respectable points tally.

Looking at the next three Fixtures,I would be disappointed with anything less than 5 points.

On away games quite a few stand up,that is no problem. Its those that stand in the gangways blocking those fans views that actually want to stay and support the Team until the end.

Away games have a much better seating arrangement then home matches, those who want to sit down can sit at the front or the middle of the stand, and those who want to stand will stand at the back knowing they won't block or obscure someone's view.

But what happened in-front of me on Saturday had nothing to do with any seating arrangement, fans decided to leave early and then Gills created a half chance and they stand in the gangway which isn't just a fire hazard but many people in Block G Could not see what was happening because we had a group of supporters standing when they should of either sat in there seats or left the stadium completely - we had to tell the stewards to do something because we could not see anything.

Five points from the next three matches would be a respectable points tally, but I think Gills need to aim for 6+ points, two wins from the next three matches would put The Gills in a much better position in the league.

Not getting anything out of The Chesterfield Match has put more importance on The Bristol City Game and I was hoping that Gillingham would win against Chesterfield and Colchester United meaning that we went into The Bristol City Game almost with a feeling that this match was a bonus game, now we really need to get something against Bristol City and hope we win the game against Colchester United so that The Gills go into the match on the 28th of December full of confidence.
