Hybrid Pitch

Postby Kent_UckyFriedGills » Tue Feb 17, 2015 11:04 pm

Paul Scally believes a hybrid pitch could be the way forward for the Club. They cost £1m pounds so it would be something we would have to save for.Arsenal,Spurs, and Man City use.

What exactly is a hybrid pitch??? Obviously they have are more acceptable than "plastic" ones otherwise they wouldn't be used at all inside the professional structure of the game. Can't really see where a club like us would get our money's worth. For the really big sides, a postponed Champions League game may cost the price of the pitch in TV revenue but for us, what would it cost? No more than a lower Tuesday night gate I could see - in the region of £10-20k maybe. So far this season we haven't had any postponements at all due to weather so what is there to gain other than the cost of relaying the turf and maintainance?

What this does is actually put to bed once and for all the Myth that we are getting a new ground.

Why spend a million quid on a pitch you would not be keeping if you were moving to a new stadium any time soon.

I suppose you could try and move it, but if you had real intentions surely you would wait till you was in your new home

Probably a million is a bit short of the cost, but there fantastic things. Millions of plastic " bits " injected into a big mat along with other "real grass". you could probably drop the training facility this stuff is like 5 times stronger and wears 5 times longer than regular grass pitches. Loads of teams use them here.
Does anyone REALLY think were leaving Priestfield until we can get four or five seasons in the Championship Division under our belt, or that 5th round replay in the cup at Old Trafford ??
