"Seeing the pitch, it’s in the back of your mind as to whether the game’s going to carry on but I’m glad it did play on. The last thing we want towards the end of the season is having to play on a Tuesday night."

This is the quote from Luke Norris interview. He didnt want the game to be abandoned in case his goal was wiped from the history books. So you would rather us lose in appalling weather than have your goal not count and have to play on a tuesday night.

Such commitment to the team, we are lucky to have such an individual.

I would get rid of him. Did not realising working tuesday nights was so so so tiring, I must try stopping it some time.

If the game was abandoned then Gillingham would have to play on Tuesday Night, Thursday Night and then Sunday as The Football League Season has to be concluded by the end of next week, so if you had four league games in hand, they would have to be played every day during the week before the final game of the season at the weekend - and I wasn't going to go to Scunthorpe United again on a Tuesday Night having already traveled to Glanford Park yesterday.

Also, it may have been a 2-1 defeat at full time, but the score-line from when the match was stopped until the full time whistle could of been anything.

I am disappointed that Gillingham lost the match yesterday and had we came back from Scunthorpe with a point then I would of been pleased with that out-come, but I was also pleased that the match wasn't called off.

I can't disagree more strongly Rob! It's a fair old trip, the match is well underway, you stop for a lengthy time and then face a decision to restart or drag everyone back up again Tuesday or even possibly after the season has ended! It's a no brainer unless player safety was genuinely at risk. If I went all that way I doubt I would go back just 3 days later! Also a goal-scorer desperate to play and his goal count ranks higher in my book than some of the players we have had who didn't look at all bothered if they played and scored or not!

I agree with FOM, they went 2-1 up on 19 minutes and play was halted 7 minutes later. Until that point the game was very open. In fact Norris himself was very unlucky to earn a draw with a great free kick.

I am sure if the game had been postponed and played Tuesday the gate would have been in the low thousands with neither team having anything to play for , maybe 1,500 or so people with the Gills contingency being maybe 50 fans.
None of this matters any more, the season is over, the bags are packed and the vacations are already under way, if we finish 12,14 ,16 who cares, no one will remember it by next month, not many people are going to be looking in the history books to see this seasons results.
The Chicago Cubs and Gillingham GF, both have the same motto........Just wait till next year.

I'm with Rob on this ...oh dear, having to sit on a luxury coach for a few hours and then actually do 90 minutes work ? Outrageous. Unlike those of us who self drive there and back to whatever location our customers choose and at a time to suit them.

Like doing trade show setups and break downs or client events when you might be on call, literally 24 hours a day including weekends ? Neither do I but if you have the good fortune of choosing the job you want to do, rather than something you hate but just happens to be what pays the bills you frankly should shut the f**k up and get on with it.

I can see Norris`s point as every striker has a selfish streak of wanting to score, whether that is 5 a side of League one.I`m pleased for the fans that the game continued as it would have been a wasted trip for the fans.Saying that the game was really poor once the game was suspended.

You have all the preparation for the game, all the travel, start the match, stop, warm down, prepare for it all over again on Sunday, play the match again on the Tuesday, come back, potentially play again Thursday and then prepare for your 4th game in a week on Sunday!!! Crikey I don't blame him - there wasn't one single person that wanted that match abandoned and rescheduled, no-one! Yes he doesn't want his goal chalked off but would you travel a long way for a meeting and choose do it all over again another day rather than finish it while you were there? If you say yes then I'll call you a liar!

At the end of the day Scunthorpe were desperate to continue as they had their tails up and the points secured their survival. The Gills wanted to continue because the game was open and it was anyone's to take and we had the Kent Senior Cup Final to contend with on the Thursday. I really don't see the issue with that at all given that 348 Gills fans would all have had a wasted trip. What would the reaction be if he said "I'm not playing out there, send them all back home again"?!
