Simeon Jackson

Postby gillsfan1066 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 7:22 pm

Guy I know is a Coventry supporter,he told me this morning what ever happens to Coventry City this season there going to have a fire sale and get rid of half the team, including Simeon Jackson, who's contract is up after Saturday.
Anyone like to see him come back, he has been around the block but must still be under 30 I would guess, so probably got a couple of good years left . Did he leave Gillingham on good terms to go to Norwich ?

No way! I see loads of people posting this all season. As we as fans judge all our players on stats lets do the same with one of our formers. He has played 30 times this season and scored 3 times. Many want him in in place of the "awful" Luke Norris and he has scored 6 goals in 43. On that basis Norris is almost twice the player! Simeon did absolutely nothing at all when he came to Priestfield earlier in the season and I fear his best days are well behind him! I would rather have a young player on less money that can grow into the role than a lot on a player that underachieves.

I agree Gary. However lets be honest, Cody did nothing when he was not at Priestfield, yet here he is close to a 20 goal a season player. Some players just fit certain places.

That said, I do not want Jackson. I do not want Norris, and I do not want Maquis.

But age plays a big part in that. You're right but Cody had his best years to come whilst Simeon's have passed.

It`s always in the back of your mind that could he come back and repeat his former goal scoring form, but I think Edinburgh will look to sign a player like Marquis or someone that has been scoring recently.Cody and Jackson are both similar players so we may be looking at a different type of Striker.

I think we will stick with Cody McDonald, Luke Norris and John Marquis (if we can sign him on a permanent basis next season).

My real concern isn't up-front, it is finding replacements for Max Ehmer and Leon Legge, especially if this 3.4.1.2 formation is how Gillingham are going to play next season, and can we hold on to John Egan as well ???, Max Ehmer will go back to QPR, but I would look to re-sign him on a season long loan next season, Leon Legge will probably be released and we look to sign a third centre back, I like Leon Legge and I think he complements Max Ehmer and John Egan in this formation, but most of our Championship Winning Squad from League Two have gone, and if we're looking to strengthen the squad and push even higher up The League One Table then you have to sign players better then the one's you currently have available in your squad - and that's difficult to do with Financial Fair Play and our small attendances.

As for Simeon Jackson, he did brilliantly when he was at the club before, but I cannot see Simeon Jackson getting into the side as Cody McDonald and John Marquis have both formed a excellent strike-partnership alongside each other, if we cannot sign John Marquis I still wouldn't sign Simeon Jackson as he is very like for like with Cody McDonald, if we want a former Gillingham Striker to re-sign for Gillingham, I would look at Adebayo Akinfenwa who's contract does expire in the summer, because we should of kept Adebayo Akinfenwa and released Danny Kedwell last summer.

No teams going up scoring 62 /63 and letting in 65,if your not knocking in 80 goals a season your staying right where you are, Everyone keeps on about Marquis staying here, something I would love to see but I don't think that's happening. I would love to see A A back in the fold, think a big presence up front is needed, but he is now 33/34 so his best years are probably well behind him.
